Fran Millar vs Cyclismas

  • Just to clarify, even though I have nought but disdain for the profession of press officers, bloggers shouldn't just make stuff up and pass it off as fact or then be snotty about it when caught out.

Having heard what Fran Millar is like to work with I'm glad to see someone rattling her cage.

Horrible piece of work only in a job thanks to her cheating brother and her current 'connection' to Dave B.
Who did you hear that from?

Someone at British Cycling as well as a couple of people at BSkyB plus people just generally involved in the sport.

All I've heard from a BC guy who works in Manchester is that she can be a moody piece. That's all. In which case, join the club

Perhaps all Presser's hatred of the world comes from the knowledge that they make their living treating adults like children in a worthless job.

Is there a press officer's association... and if so, do they have a press officer?

 My mates press officer for Nott's County. He is a scumbag.
Really, was he doing that during the Sven and Sol phase? I'd be amazed at anyone who could have made that seem positive.

 Started his job pre-season this year so only worked under Curle so far, think Martin Allen was there before Curle and as my mate is a staunch Leicester City fan, knowing his opinion of Allen he probably wouldn't have took the job if he'd still been in charge.

I'm not sure that i want to now accept that FM is a 'horrible piece of work' based on this thread. Seems a bit harsh. If she wasn't related to DM would she be getting such a hard time? This is getting a bit personal imo.

Fair comment. I've edited my comment to make it clearer that if being a bit moody (and that's just hearsay) is an offence, then I'm in that 'offenders' club too

Being related to Saint Dave has nothing to do with it, majority of us on here are Dave fans, or that's what I thought? I'm a Dave fan, don't really know much about his sister?

Not sure everyone is. Lots of people still define him as a cheat. I just wondered how many other press officers were known by name? She probably gets more stick than most due to her name/genealogy.

She does put herself about on twitter a fair bit too though. More than your average press office, probably another consequence of having a famous brother.
  • bit of a bizarre thing to say, LL :?

as a matter of interest, do you follow Brian Nygaard? If you want to talk frequency of tweets, if you take a look at his twitter feed you'll find that he makes Fran Millar look like Howard Hughes.

Not a bizzare thing to say really? She loves 'avin a chat on twitter - thus leaves her self open to attack from others. Look, don't really get the problem - I'm not a fan of Cyclismas, clearly he was in the wrong and consistently is - its nothing that other bloggers havn't noticed, in fact if you look at my twitter I have openly quizzed him regarding lies, sources etc as have a few other, more high profile bloggers. Bit everyone on here very vitriolic all of a sudden because yet again it concerns 'precious Sky' - I get why people are upset with it, don't really get the hurls of abuse towards somebody nobody really knows much about, does have a few links and probably has more 'inside' knowledge than most on here. Regards to Fran, from what ive seen she's alright, but she dines out on being Dave's sister and likes to get involved on twitter - nothing wrong with that but having the job role she does it can be a dangerous game.

Because once again it's a pathetic made up Sunday Sport level story about "precious Sky".

I think she's making a genuine attempt to speak to the fan's directly - trouble is that that can very quickly go either way...

Which I have already accepted and agreed with. BUT would everybody be on here throwing a hissy fit if he'd said something about FDJ or Astana? I doubt it. Plenty of bloggers and journos in the mainstream get things wrong, sometimes deliberately, its nothing new.

Really? Really? I kind of thought that it was the other way round really - it is Holy Dave that drops Fran's name a lot - he seems very proud of her (which is nice).
