Hi all, I'm purchasing some rollers soon, do people ride clipped in?

Yes, people ride clipped in. Why do you ask?CAPTAIN BUCKFAST'S CYCLING TIPS - GUARANTEED TO WORK! 1 OUT OF 10 RACING CYCLISTS AGREE!0

Just that they look tricky, didn't know if you needed the option to disengage a bit quicker0

Concentration levels need to be high, so just be prepared...0

I don't find it any harder than riding on the road. If you feel like you're going to crash you can unclip easily. I find that when I fall off the rollers I stay upright for a few seconds anyway, so have plenty of time to simply pop one or both feet out.CAPTAIN BUCKFAST'S CYCLING TIPS - GUARANTEED TO WORK! 1 OUT OF 10 RACING CYCLISTS AGREE!0

You might want to ride flats for a bit - no reason why not - whatever gets you used to them - you'll soon find it's not an issue. Maybe think about the floor too - if it's slippy if you do have to stick a foot down quicky cleats on a hard floor can slide out leaving you and the bike crashing down.

Hi Tom, I'm used to clip ons, I'm just querying the roller bit0

they advise at first not clipping in so you can put your foot down easier when you overbalance, but I found it far better to clip in so you get a smoother pedalling action - I can't pedal anywhere near as smoothly when not clipped in, and surviving on rollers is all about smooth pedalling to reduce wobble. You can clip in and just position the rollers in a door frame so you have support on both sides tll you gain confidence0

Yes realised that - meant if you are apprehensive about being clipped in on the rollers you could ride with flats when you are on them. I did that when I first got rollers - but you soon realise you may as well just clip in as normal.
