    Carbon Wheel advice
    by kleinstroker » Sat Oct 13, 2012 12:38 pm

    Hi
I recently bought a set of Reynolds Assault wheels from some dude on ebay and they arrived this morning wrapped only in brown paper!! Couldn't believe it my heart dropped when I saw them in the hallway. I have examined them and luckily they seem to be ok, but as I have no idea what I should really be looking at, I could do with some pointers.

How should I check for possible damage during transit?I can't see any chips or cracks apart from a "seam" that goes across the rim, I'm guessing that is normal? Part of the manufacturing process, but I could be wrong. Anything else I should look out for.

    Cheers

GGrrrr, stupid questions from buyers, heehee. :P :P

Not really relevant is it?? I have admitted the errors of my ways and will try to be more forthcoming with information in future, but sending carbon wheels through the post in a brown paper bag really has nothing to do with my frustration at what I perceived to be dumb questions.

Examples of stupid questions for above item

Q: How old is it please?

Q: Will you post to Kenya?

Q: What's the buy it now price?

OP, the questions you're getting are reasonable. Ergo, you're wrong. Or perhaps, you're right, and everyone on this thread and all the people who have asked you 'stupid' questions are wrong.

You really don't know me at all! ha- ha!! It would take tens of thousands minimum to ever make me change my mind if I thought I was right.

Haha indeed, it's hilarious that you value stubbornness over common sense.

Condition and useage should be in the description, if not people will ask.

Eh, the state of the rims is fundamental to what I would pay for a set of second hand wheels.

I'm not sure I would pay £10 for a set of Lightweights if the braking surface was only a few atoms thick!

A good close up of the braking surfaces would have helped but I guess the camera is worn out!

As I have already said, I did say condition of rims and bearings was good hence my frustration, but next time I will get the old ruler out on the braking surface and provide a great close up of the rim. I guarantee I will still get the numpties asking daft questions... just you wait and see! If you do happen to buy a set of wheels on ebay in the next week or two bear that in mind if you email me asking what the other 90% of the rim looks like, the bit that's not in the photo..
  • No problem - how does 1,7638.5 sound? or 897.42 just need to be precise!!!!
