I do have one other which is my main aim for the season but there are too many potential competitors on here for it so I will keep silent until after the event ;)
C'mon, admit it - you want to win the Course PB prize in the Beacon Little Mountain TT!

    Ruth

Not quite - best improver will do. This year's conditions in my first attempt give me a chance but the same applies to anyone else doing their first ride this year as well.

You might get worse conditions  though after the biblical conditions of this year, if it was any worse you might be the only rider LOL.

New to road cycling so a few basic aims for next year...

    - Ride consistantly over winter to get a good base fitness
    - Lose some more weight - Already down to 89kgs from 96kgs
    - Ride over 2,000 miles
    - Buy a new bike - I'm current riding a hand me down
    - Ride a TT

Probably a lot of other but this will do for now

  • 1. Lose 9lbs
    2. Join the local club (Kingston Wheelers)
    3. Start climbing like I used to be able to
    4. A sportive of some sort, or hopefully the London 100 mile thing in August
    5. Start justifying the £4k+ I've spent on bikes and gear this year

    Ride Etape du Tour again.
    Loose 8 more kilos
    Sub 22 10TT
    Sub 58 25TT

strange goals, if you think a sub 22 is doable, then a sub 58 should be piss easy, my 10 pb is 21.54 and my 25 pb is 54.45 that 10 is on a shorter version of the 25 course though, not sure what courses you are looking at doing?

As for my own goals having been selected for Guernsey in the island games in Bermuda next year it is to help the team to team golds and help one of the two teams leaders to individual golds. More personally i would like to finish either a premier calendar road race or French Elite National. Main goal though is to qualify and make the team for the Commonwealth Games.
  • Set in stone putting it online!

Get back to fitness after my road accident.
Start first season racing (top 5 finish would be lovely)
Cheddar gorge 22 mins or less.
    get from 64kg to 68kg.

Get a baseline season to improve on for the following year

    Goodluck everyone

La Marmotte for the road bike, then I think Kielder 100 on the MTB at the end of the year as my main goals.

As I only started a few months ago, 2013 is gonna consist of upping my average speeds, riding more hills, doing more sportives to build my endurance, and possibly do some competitive stuff towards the end of the summer.

Also build a new bike at some point this year from scratch to help with my mechanical knowledge!
  • the plan for 2013 is to have fun and do a bit better in a few races than 2012.

so with that in mind, the plan is to train hard and lose some weight. i got some measurements taken at the gym in jan to see where i was.

    nov 2011, 11st 6lbs 18% body fat (from memory)
    jan 2012, 11st 2 lbs body fat 13%
    nov 2012, 10st 6lbs (house scales)

today i'm doin the same test with some kind of power test. i dont know what its going to involve, or how relevant the numbers will be. then i'll do the same in march 2013. i'd like the target weight to be 10st.

i'll report in later with how the test went. i dont like too many numbers to confuse cycling and i hope its useful.
  • well i've went from 11'2 and 13% to 10'6 and 17% body fat. so i guess i've lost body fat and muscle but more lean muscle than fat. i'm not too concerned as i havent done weights in 5 months.

my test showed starting at 200w increasing in 20's per min. i got to 300w but was spinning at +120 cadence to do so and couldnt keep it up. so we tried at level 12? but still only got to 300w spinning at 115 cadence with a hr of 183. these numbers are my base for the next 5 months training so my 2013 target is to push this up as much as poss. i also did a 1 k and a 4 k test at steady 155 hr. so in 5 months i want to improve my 4k 155hr time.

these numbers are news to me
