Just went for a 20-mile ride, and decided that I really do LOVE this bike. It was the best ride I've ever had.

Just a question - has anyone actually seen/heard of a BSA Goldenwings before? I've looked on the net and can't find any info on it whatsoever.

That is really nice, I like the BSA brand as my Dad restores classic British motorbikes and he has done a couple of BSA's.

He's on with a BSA C15 now. Enjoy it :D

Hehe I now carry a mini pump I bought in Poundland (for £1, obviously). I don't want to try it out until I get a puncture because I'm sure it will pump up the tyre once, then break.

The 20mm tyres are actually more comfortable than you might think. I'm gonna get some 25mm ones when these wear out, though.

    Thanks mate :)

On my old bike, even though I still enjoyed riding, I couldn't go further than 10 miles before I started to ache and get truly fed up with it.

On this, however, I do 20 miles and I don't want to stop! I finish my usual route, then decide I still want to ride more!

I'm going to attempt a really long, hilly ride on Thursday hopefully! Probably over 2500ft of climbing (which doesn't sound much, but for me it is!).

I passed you not long ago - we rode from Lochcarron near Skye, headed East, and up through Evanton and then on to the B9176 to Bonar Bridge, and on to Lairg - nice riding around you!!!

Ah yes - the Struie (B9176). A lovely road but rather hilly and windy!!!

What do you think of the road quality? :P

To be honest, I can't remember! 500 miles of Scottish tarmac all blended into one over the week and I can barely remember what bit was what :D I remember the descent into Bonar Bridge being pretty fast though!

That sir is a thing of beauty ,so much nicer than modern aero black stealth stuff ,
I like that you havent modernised it with modern shifters etc ,old bikes should keep their down shifters and a nice brooks saddle wouldnt go amiss too.

I was just considering upgrading wheels in the future, and I was wondering if my current wheels are actually any good.

They're Mavic MA-2 rims, with unknown Shimano hubs and unknown spokes. The front wheel weighs around 1350g INCLUDING tube and tyre. Is that pretty light?

    Thanks!

Not very! Not insanely heavy either though, and they look cool. My campag front wheel is 780g (not including tyres) and not too expensive.

Thanks :) I don't think I could get much lighter with a set of £150 wheels, so I'll just stick with these for now. As you said - they look cool!

Totally... One pair of my Campag Sciroccos cost me £60 though so there are bargains out there! But you'd need silver ones and then de-badge them so they look vintage. If you're enjoying the ride as it is though don't worry too much :D

I think you definitely could! My set of aksiums I bought for £75 2nd hand are a little over 2.3kg for the set with tyres. So the front weighs 1100g with tube and tyre, so 250g just for the front wheel. That's a lot.

Edit: they're easily debadged too so would go with the bike

Hmmm. That could be an option! What Aksiums are they exactly (I think there are a few different models)? :)

My new shoes arrived today! Got some 105 pedals for Christmas, and the Mavic Avenge shoes arrived this afternoon - what a difference from MTB shoes/pedals!!!
