Aldi is my nearest shop over here and I've never been in it. Must check it out one day although I have a feeling that this one is only groceries etc"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

I bought one a year and a half ago. It's nothing fancy but it does the job. There's no padding of any description on the arms where the bikes rest so you have to glue something on or cover with gaffer tape.
Anyone who's going to spend over £35 pounds would be wise to go and buy a copy of the Daily Mirror which has a £5 off voucher (not limited to cycling stuff though).0 -
I'm going to grab the tool kit well worth it bet it only lasts 3 months tho like the track pun I had lol
Made of cheese! When i die I just hope the wife doesn't sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it other wise someone will be getting a mega deal!!!

I have a similar kit, has lasted 10 years. They are generic tools.0

picked up the tri-suit, should be goof for winter riding gear!
A lot of the other stuff was good, but I didn't really need. Very nearly got the waterproofs. Didn't get the stand though!0 -
I'm going to go check these bits out tonight, cheers for the heads up I wanted a cheap toolkit, I have most of my bits scattered at home, and nothing at uni!0

My Aldi toolkit has built 6 bikes and maintained many more, the cassette lockring tool is getting a bit chewed up but otherwise all good after about 4 years. This years kit looks better with HT2 tools etc!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Just been in a got a pair of the winnter socks, feel good too - i'll try them on my commute tomorrow.
I went in to look at the Merino tops for £15 but they felt a bit thread bare to be honest so I gave it a miss, the water proofs & softshell jackets look good quanlity though, I just don't need any.
Aldi must do alright out of these though, half the people in the store were looking through the biking stuff - good to see !0 -

Don't forget Lidl, they have these today for £9.99,hex and torx, got them, used them already, superb!

got the tool kit for myself, but the one near work had pretty well sold out of the the mens jackets.
can anyone let me know how generous (or not) the XL jackets are
thanks0 -
Glad I checked this thread before riding to Lidl...0

I picked up a couple of pairs of the socks, still had reasonable stock left in the Thetford store at 10am though all the medium cycle trousers had gone and that was the only other thing I wanted.0

I was at my local store for 0800hrs along with a few other keen punters
Wierdly my local shop didn't have the blue or red jerseys which was a shame, nor the leggings. However I picked up a hi-vis rain jacket for the commute and a hi-vis jersey for winter riding. Also bought a pair of overshoes and arm warmers.
My forearms regularly get shredded by local thorns etc so they'll come in well handy
Friend of mine went after work and only found a guy wandering about with 3 baskets full of stuff....apparently the shelves were empty. :roll:Specialised Camber Comp 2011

Went down today. Got a pair of the shoes, winter trousers, waterproof jacket, a top and a couple pairs of the socks. All seem great for the money. Was tempted by a few of the other bits too but had to reign it in and go for the things I needed most!0

Went in Maidstone and Sittingbourne branches looking for the soft shell jackets which looked superb for 15.99. Neither had them :-(. Got some winter socks though and have already tried them, very comfy, a bit thin on top but sort of thermal underwear type material so pretty warm.2011 Canyon XC 8.0 (Monza Race Red)

I only went in for some socks and ended up coming out with 2 pairs of socks, 2 sets of compression underwear, winter trousers, winter jacket, gloves and a hi-viz waterproof jacket. Way more than i intended to buy  but not bad for the money. I'm just not sure about the waterproof hi-viz jacket, it's that bright i'm sure you could get eye damage if you looked at it for long enough :?Boardman Fs Team

Picked up the bike stand, seems sturdy enough and quickly doubles for a work stand
In my local store they hadn't got any stands out on sale but when I asked one of the staff they went and got 4/5 of them that must have just been sitting in storage and put them on display, had that happen a few times at different stores :roll:0 -
Nottingham city centre Aldi has loads of stock left, I got one of the tool kits I looked at the bike clothing, seems alright, although I have always ridden in jeans and a t shirt...is it really worth getting all this breathable stuff? I do sweat like a fat kid in a sweet shop, but i'm hesitant to spend that much on clothing if its not really any better0

Well worth it. Jeans and cotton in general is the most uncomfortable stuff to ride in.I don't do smileys.
