Was that a deliberate block on Pooley by the Dutch girl as she went to chase Vos?

Game over for Team GB. Same situation now as the Olympics, the peloton have to get organized and contribute or the break will stay away. Simple as that. Box Hill was, in a way, a rehearsal for today.

But it's coming back together, so Pooley gets a lucky break.

Spoke too soon. No-one driving the bunch at all.

  • Why on BBC 1 showing the TTs and not the RR. Pretty annoying.

If I was Pooley I'd be pretty disappointed at the lack of help from my team. Was expecting to see more of them!

I'd be disappointed at myself for not seeing that move and reacting.
  • Peloton doing about 25kph.
  • Is Vos solo? Can lt get any visuals at the moment.

Thought there was a suggestion of blocking from a Dutch rider? Didn't catch the replay unfortunately. But if she had a clear chance to follow Vos and didn't bother then yes she can only blame herself.

Pooley spends all day in the top 3 and then misses the one move she had to follow.

    +1

I don't know what happened really. She clearly had good enough legs to get across to the Vos group, she just didn't bother until it was too late.
  • Does it include that Italian? Three times in a row would be unacceptable.

I think she should have been more on Vos's wheel, marking her rather than riding in the wind and being tracked by Vos all the time.

Oh dear, more than a lap to go an the obituaries are happening already....

She was just about to give chase when a Dutch rider veered across her a bit. But Borghini was blocked by the same incident as well and she still made it to the break.

She's in a break with mostly no-hopers, but there are a couple who could challenge her in a sprint, so expect Vos to attack on the Cauberg rather than risk a sprint.
  • Tooley.
I remember a few years back a big debate on here about here lack of racing nowse.

Vos turns the screw again. Just Longo and the Aussie can follow.
  • That Italian girl has to totally sit on Vos's wheel. She can beat her if Vos underestimates the situation.

Longo Borghini – nickname Lamborghini – is Italy's version of the 2006 Marianne Vos (or thereabouts – she's 20 rather than 19).
  • This Aussie better not do a Gerrans.

Vos only enough to drop two.

  • Now, why don't they just sit on Vos's wheel like the blokes would?
Nice of Neben to tow her team mate up the Cauberg.

  • Not pleased with how much of distance there is to the finish from the summit. Going to need a big attack tomorrow to hold off chasers.

The peloton is riding tempo. The gap must be in minutes by now.

It's like watching a Premier Calender race, once the big fish decide to attack the rest aren't in the same race.
