Or KML even for that matter.

What do I need to get turn by turn navigation from routes I've created online? I'm seeing conflicting reports as to whether it's TCX or GPX that will do that, some say one thing, another something else.

Cheers

    i usually use a gpx from a previous ride but did use a tcx from bikeroutetoaster and did not like the turn by turn when compared to the gpx - but i have not uploaded a gpx from toaster
    i need more bikes
  • I'm using ridewithgps, they do say that TCX will give turn by turn but Garmin forums suggest it won't, so I guess I'll have to try it and see.

    Thanks
  • I download as GPX files from bike route toaster. I then access them via Where To? --> Saved Rides. I have re-routing turned off and ride with a small map on screen so I can be sure I'm following the route although it's only an issue at places with lots of junctions.

    .tcx = Garmin Training Centre XML file
    .gpx = GPS eXchange file

    tcx contains GPS data, as well as lots of other info, .gpx is just raw GPS data, if .gpx is available, use that.
  • I find mine works far better with tcx files - if I use gpx it often loses the plot mid ride.

    it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

    I read a few more reports of it doing that so went for the TCX, seemed to work fine.
