Ok so if this is a dumb question then please excuse me but I did my 3rd ever outing on a road bike today and managed 22miles with an average speed of just iver 16mph. So since my first ride my avg speed and distance have both gone up but my pace just keeps dropping.

I really dont want to start off on the wrong foot and was wondering if pace is more important than speed and distance!

Any help would be much appreciated :D

And if it helps i'm aiming for a 100m sportive (eventually.....) :?

I assume you are reading av speed, distance and pace from your bike computer. If you get faster then average speed goes up as pace (the time it takes to complete a mile) goes down. Put another way a 4 minute mile is quicker than a 5 minute mile - or have I misunderstood you..............?
  • Ok now it makes sense  a little blonde moment! Thanks
