Dream of a teenager

Hi all,

Please bear with me as I share my story with you. I'm 16years old this year and i started cycling at the age of 12 and became competitive at the age of 14. Every now and then, i would always think about what if I am a rich man's son? I would have gotten a cipollini easily with a snap of fingers. However, I worked during the weekends and holiday and managed to buy a humble road bike. I started training and training wanting to be better each day. Right now, i'm 15 and next year would be the last year for me to race in the junior category and i really wish to win. I have always wanted a carbon road bike so i did calculation on my savings. The road bike would cost me $2300USD, I would be able to save $1000USD, for the remaining $1300 I would have to find an alternative way. If some kind soul would just sponsor some money to me, I would be glad. In future, I would also keep another teenager's dream alive. cy-cycycy@live.com

Here's a virtual £50 to get you started
  • If you are legit, then send letters to big companies, show what you have achieved so far, any competitions you have entered, won, come second etc. One company out of the thousands may help.

I will take a blonde also, please 27 years old.

My advice is to get a part time job and save up the $1300 like the rest of us. There's not many people who will give away $1300 to a random stranger.

Can somebody send me the Miami Dolphins cheerleader team, please?

True, the greats like Merckx, Induràin, Pantani and Armstrong still did great rides without a carbon bike.

I think you'llhave more luck in winning the lottery than asking a bunch of opinionated, cynical strangers from a web forum to give you money. Why not go to the manufacturers with your plans and results, they may be more sympathetic.

    Rachel Riley please.

It's the engine that matters. You could put me on the most latest and most expensive carbon bike and I still wouldn't be able to cycle like Merckx, Induràin, Pantarni or Armstrong on a bike from the 80's or 90's.

You'd only get sponsorship if you get fame for winning some big races and the sponsor knows it's a safe bet you can get them some television or magazine time. Nobody gives away free money for nothing.

Call me cynical and maybe I'm wrong but this doesn't read like the language of a 15yr old going on 16..

Sounds like the bank of Nigeria!

But never mind, I'll just dip my hands in my pockets and shell out some ££'s for you rather than buy that nice new piece of kit for myself.....

call me selfish and cynical..... you'd be right!
    It's been a while...
  • Holly Whilloughbooby, Kelly Brook, Christina Agulera, Pamela Anderson (there's a pattern emerging here) I'm really not that fussy.
My biggest fear is that should I crash, burn and die, my Wife would sell my stuff based upon what I told her I paid for it.
  • Can you post your bank details here please and I'll credit your account accordingly.
  • While we're on the subject of charity Mrs thescouselander is pestering me for a bigger house. I reckon I'm about £400k short of the required sum so any donations will be most appreciated.
  • I would have been more than happy to just GIVE you $1,300 but unfortunately I gave a gentleman who "promised" to give me 10% of a large sum of money, my bank details.. He promised to deposit the large sum of money into my account for safe keeping, and for my troubles he'd leave me 10% - Well the "see you next tuesday" just cleared my whole account out and so I don't have any spare cash for you bud!

To be honest you probably know each other, so why don't you ask your mate if you can use some of my hard earned cash and pop down your friendly and reliable Nigerian bike shop, and buy that tasty carbon Italian race bike!
