  • Seems like the OP does not know anything about racing and asks silly question :D
Others on here should know better, it does not matter what "our" opinions are, so many IMO posts here, he will do what he wants and what is BES FOR HIM.
He stated all last year his focu as iomn the home olypmics, same as Kennaugh and he trained for that, won gold and broke record, lots of publicicy for sponsors, probably get a gong, got a new free car and now can focus on road career. He stated he will not do olympics again. Compare this to CAv who seems to have regretted not competing at home olympics and still without gold and he wont get one in Rio either as much as he would like ( IMO lol)
I see no reason why G could not become a GC rider, certainly capable as seen in TDF break last year, think he may focus on classics and supporting role in GT.
Would be great to see him on the track for commonwealth games with Luke, Owain Doull and John Mould but think his focus will be elsewhere :(

Or what Dave Brailsford tells him to do.

I can't wait to see Geraint on the road next year, whether its in one of the classics or a grand tour. He's an excellent GT team member, great puller for a GC man or a stage bagger plus can do a mean TT.
Its a shame the olympics happened when they did in terms of his road career but he did what he had to do on the track (gold medal + WR awesome), now that's behind him its all systems go on the road.
