Best local 10 mile TT course is the H10/A which is on the A31 Bentley bypass - it starts in the southbound layby just north of Bentley, heads down to the Holybourne roundabout near Alton where you turn around and finish just shy of the Bull public house on the northbound side, a few hundred metres beyond the starting point. The course record is under 19 minutes.

There's a couple of other club 10 courses along the A30 near Hartney Wintney which loop up towards Eversley and back around via Swallowfield and Hook.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Guys.

Is anyone up for a challenge? After riding boxhill, I havent stopped thinking about it. I am thinking of riding from Guildford (its easier to drive there for me) parking up at my uncles (pit farm road, at the top of town) and riding the A25 all the way into Dorking to loop boxhill....wait for it....9times! Then riding back, It would be my first 100mile + ride well close too. Im not sure when ill attempt it, but it will be an early start if anyone fancies joining me. Could be a mini Olympics :D

    This is the route: http://connect.garmin.com/course/2078625

Probably in March next year I'll be ready for that mammoth task! I want to climb Box Hill before the year is out though!

There's a TT course on strava that goes from Upper Hale Road (in Hale, Farnham) down the A287 down towards Odiham, passing South Wanborough before rounding a roundabout and going back towards Farnham on the same road, ending just before where you started in Upper Hale.

    Strava Link: http://app.strava.com/segments/666446

I've not tried one yet or got any TT gear, bars or a TT bike, but would definitely be up for trying a TT sometime, this one I've mentioned above ^^^ is very close to where I live so I have no excuse for not giving it a go sometime.

The course you've posted the link to on Strava (HCC175) is one of the regular TT courses used by our club - Farnborough & Camberley CC - that I posted a link to earlier in this thread.

No, no... nothing bad on your part. I only posted a link to the homepage of the club website and suggested that the OP might be interested in some of the club rides. I never posted anything about the club TTs and routes.

Ahh right I see. Just mis-read your last post
  • Just need to get my average mph up and I'm probably going to trundle down to the Farnborough and Camberley club at some point late this year/early next year.

My mind was made up pretty much as soon as I saw one of their TT route starts about 5 minutes from my house :)
  • I'm in Fleet and ride around the area going as far north as Newbury, West to Alresford, south to Petersfield and East to Box Hill, riding a White Specialized Tarmac Pro usually wearing a white Craft top.

Here's a few rides for you Odiham/Aldershot/Fleet folks - all good roads and pretty quiet

Apart from White Down Lane, there aren't any hard hills around the area.

Hi All, first post, so my intial search for Fleet etc lead me here. I ride in the local are, reside in Fleet, so can often be found struggling up hill repeats for every climb up to Beacon Hill. One up from the Golf Course in Crondall always kills me.

Some great relatively traffic free riding out the back on Crondall towards Alton, good short climbs and a few larger ones. Just watch out for the Wags storming past in convertibles or 4x4, usually 0 road awareness :-)

Not logged on Strava yet, generally due to tardiness on me part !

Yep, crondall, bentley, lasham, selbourne, that entire area is great for riding. Plenty of lumps and not many cars and most of them - even the tools with the 4x4's are locals and are used to the riders. I rate flying down from Well to crondall, such a beautiful bit of scenery and fun road.

I think I left a lung on beacon hill once.

Its a bit short though - less than a mile and ends at a rubbish section of road in Crondall. You should try Golden Pot to Alton or South Warnborough :)
  • If you're looking for a good climb around there, from Upper Froyle, follow the sign to Yarhams opposite the Church, take that left of coming from Lower Froyle/Well approach.

Climbs over various gradients for roughly 1 1/2 miles. Drop down to the Golden Pot, take a left and carry on to Alton and then climb back out on Old Oidham Road.

Done that route twice before, believe there is a Cat 4 climb on/around this route that challenged the ol' legs, especially when I was just starting out!
  • Sorry I meant right, take the left and you'll be in the church car park :-)

Didn't realise it was Cat level climb, although it does kick in two places, just watch the gravel on the climb past the construction of the new house, oh and the suicidal pheasants !

I usually ride around Crondall / Farnham / Odiham and in between so will look out for some of these climbs :)
