I see quite a fair amount of roadies on my local routes. Just wondering if any of them are you guys, saw two people in BMC kits yesterday, a dude in a yellow jersey and a few others.

Yesterday i was in my full team GB kit (say what you will, but i love it) So if you saw me, i was riding through beacon hill, across pirbright, worpleston and Guildford back towards ash vale.

actually this was my route : http://app.strava.com/rides/20691224

  • Don't live in F'Borough but do work in Aldershite and ride in from Weybridge / Byfleet area once or twice a week so know the Pirbright / Worps / G'Ford / Woking area well. Quite a few roadies at work and we often get out evenings and weekends.

  • I saw a bloke in full GB kit a few weeks ago at the roundabout by the bottom of Aldershot, I was going up and over towards Ash at the time!
  • Ah wasn't me, only got the shorts last week.
I'm on a black giant tcr if anyone spots me though
  • Wave at a solo guy in an orange MS Society jersey and white Specialized bike 'cos that'll be me :-)

Lol I give everyone a little wave or a nod of the head. Even if they don't return the favour. I love the comaradery behind it all it's great :)
  • I live in Farnham, which is obviously just up the road from Farnborough. I'm yet to cycle the Farnborough/Aldershot area though.

I ride the area regularly. I belong to the Farnborough and Camberley CC and there are a variety of rides that might be of interest to you with them. http://www.fccc.org.uk/

I'm off for a few hours today. Haven't decided where but probably through Farnborough - Odiham - Lasham - Bentley - Dockenfield - Tilford - Seal - Pirbright.

  • I have thought about joining a club, would this be a good one to look into?
Unfortunately I am working today. Would much rather be out on my bike!A

Probably the best thing to do is come along to one of the Sunday rides. You don't need to have joined to have a "try out". There are various rides (starting at different times - between 9:00 AND 10:00). Looking at your Strava rides I would have said the cafe run might be quite suitable.
They are all listed in the "Rides" section on the website. The meeting point is at Speedys, again details on the website. Everyone is pretty friendly.

I'm in Guildford which is on the outskirts of your route, and I ride with the Charlotteville CC. I'm now following you on Strava :-)

I'm also following you on Strava now, great to compare rides with others on here :)

I'm also looking into joining a Club near me, Farnborough and Camberley CC, Farnham Road CC, WyndyMilla and Charlotteville CC are the main ones under consideration at the moment.

The main reason I haven't joined one yet is because I just don't think I would be fast enough, I can do 13.5mph average over 25+ miles but I reckon I need to find another 1mph average to be able to keep up on club rides.

The other reason is I don't know whether they'll be anyone my age group there. I'm only 22 (almost 23) and would like some people in their 20s to converse with/have a pint with etc. Obviously if there's not it's not the end of the world, just wouldn't really know what to talk to a load of older gentlemen about in the Pub really...
  • Lol!!! I'm the same, need to find a club with lots of Liz Hatch's, Jenny Fletchers and Lizzie Armisteasds too!! Along with my age group (27)

Have been looking at farnborough though. My average is 16mph over 41miles

You should try the Charlotteville beginners club runs, which are the first Sunday fo each month departing Guildford Spectrum at 9am (usually a bit after). We just had one of those with about 40 people turn up, we split into groups (normally 1 faster, 1 slower) and nobody is left behind. That said, if you can average 13.5 mph I think you''ll struggle on the other non-beginner rides.Tthe run on 7 Oct is a hill club, so best try and get out on 4 November when we go to the Rural Life cenre in Farnham.

I'm in Bagshot, so not too far from you - black Wilier with fluorescent decals & forks. I've got various routes I use around Sunningdale, Egham, Chertsey, Weybridge, Shepperton, West End, Worplesdon, Guildford, Woking.

I could do with some route variety so may start branching out your way a bit.

    Roy.

Paul, Roy. Here's a ride I did yesterday. It might give you some options on where to ride.

Thanks Dabber - will definitely head out that way.
  • Hi All, first post, so my intial search for Fleet etc lead me here. I ride in the local are, reside in Fleet, so can often be found struggling up hill repeats for every climb up to Beacon Hill. One up from the Golf Course in Crondall always kills me.

Some great relatively traffic free riding out the back on Crondall towards Alton, good short climbs and a few larger ones. Just watch out for the Wags storming past in convertibles or 4x4, usually 0 road awareness :-)

Not logged on Strava yet, generally due to tardiness on me part !
  • Just bought my 1st road bike as I will be commuting from Aldershot to Pirbright. Looking forward to seeing others on the road, probably briefly as you go passed.

Took myself for a 4 mile intro ride just to get comfortable with the basics. 1 thing I will say is i hope there are no snails on my route as you feel everything.

Hoping to get some good rides on any free weekends I get.
  • I'm going out tomorrow for my weekly 25 mile ride starting in Hook, and doing a loop through Dogmersfield, Crookham Village, Fleet, Crondall, Well, Lower Froyle and then back to Hook.

If anyone sees someone on a white Giant that's me :), anyone's welcome to join me if they want. I'll be starting at about 1:30pm
  • Ah I would mate but after doing 42miles round boxhill today. I think I'm gunna be lazy and lounge in the sun

Yeh I saw that in your other post, good effort! Really want to get up there myself some time.

I was actually planning on doing Farnham to Box Hill tomorrow but just couldn't figure out a route that took me fancy so ended up planning one closer to home in the end.

I drove there parked up and looped it a few times and got majorly lost! Ha
I'm going to park in Guildford next time I go, and ride in from there's as gettig through guildford and its weekends traffic doesn't appeal to me that greatly lol
  • If you liked the Box hill riding and the general ridig around there, download this and stick it on your Garmin (if you use one)

    http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=mpznmgpgjwjqamvp

Some of the climbs in there are a good test.

It's the shorter route of the Legs of Steel, really good ride.
  • In Farnham, I will be out & about on Hybrid Giant.

Blakey I would have joined you today but looks like i'm a little late!

    yeah no worries,

I Start at Odiham and usually head towards Alton myself, but always looking for new routes!
  • Guys.

Is anyone up for a challenge? After riding boxhill, I havent stopped thinking about it. I am thinking of riding from Guildford (its easier to drive there for me) parking up at my uncles (pit farm road, at the top of town) and riding the A25 all the way into Dorking to loop boxhill....wait for it....9times! Then riding back, It would be my first 100mile + ride well close too. Im not sure when ill attempt it, but it will be an early start if anyone fancies joining me. Could be a mini Olympics :D

    This is the route: http://connect.garmin.com/course/2078625

On another note, anyone know any local 10m TT routes? I fancy giving one a bash.
