I'm riding it, setting off from Cheltenham at 5 am, to get to Wythenshaw Park by 7.30. I'll park my car
at my brother's house in nearby Timperley.0 -

I'm doing it too0

I've been led to believe it will be a big field with entries over 2000. My start time is 7am so I will be aiming to be at the Park start by half six. There are 8 of us riding it from work and doing the 100 mile route. Looking forward to it although last three weeks has been a nightmare making the time to get some decent training rides in so expecting it to hurt. Fairly flat route however with the climbs very short from what I understand.
Hope you all enjoy your dayTrek Madone 5.9

No idea. First group off at 0700 and in 5 minute intervals. All 100 mile riders scheduled off between 0700 and 0800 I believe with the 100 km riders setting out between 0800 and 0900.
If you want to do the 100 miles I guess you'll have to be there before 7am to register but I'm only guessingTrek Madone 5.9

You don't need to register, it's in the info pack. It just says to wait for your start time to be called forward.Cube Acid 2011 MTB

I think Pedal1 hasn't pre-registered and wants to turn up and register on the day. If you have pre-registered you just need to be ready for your start time already issued and hand in your ride card as you go through the start tent. This is exchanged for a route map booklet just in case you miss the route signage

I was leaving work in Manc this morning just after 7, can't believe how many cars there were queueing on the A5103! Gridlock...
I bet some of those were driving less than 5 miles too...Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

When i did it the other year the last mile in took us 50 mins - so i can well believe it.

Did the 100 miles. Delighted with pace as total distance was 101 mile in 5h47m at average speed of 17.5mph. Suffering now even after a hot bath
Rained until about half way and then the sun shone. A few accidents including one poor chap who went down in Marbury on a tight left hand corner and was carted off to Hospital. Hopefully not too serious. A few others went down on the same corner too apparently.
Sadly quite a few red light jumpers on the ride today. Not giving Cycling a good name.
My start time was 7am so missed the bulk of the traffic on arrival. Despite the rain it was great fun.Trek Madone 5.9

Yeah I saw him as well, poor sod!
I did the 100 miles in 5:45 so I'm pretty happy with that, Also saw a few accidents, one guy was sprawled out on a blind 90 degree corner, but was being looked after, also saw some poor lad trying and failing a track stand at some lights in front of about 15 guys, poor bugger :-)Cube Acid 2011 MTB

It was my first sportive, did the 100 miler in 5 hr 40 mins, was hoping to get under the 5.30...but I guess the slow start holds you back a bit..experience!
Slso saw the guy who cam off and looks like he hit a wall - forks snapped clean!
weather was pretty grim! and the puncture fairy was having LOTS of fun!!!0 -
I also witnessed plenty of red light jumpers especially when I'm stood there waiting patiently. Also witnessed 2 big crashes, one was behind me and I think they touched wheels and the second was a on descent which went right over a bridge. I think the second crash was due to the wet conditions and diesel being on the road. The faller in the second crash was screaming in pain and I had second thoughts about continuing. I decided to continue and nearly came off myself on a muddy stretch of road despite slowing down after the crashes I had witnessed. I eventually completed the 100 miles in 5hrs 24 mins but I just hope everyone got back ok and the lads I saw that had crashed aren't seriously hurt and are back in the saddle again soon. Overall it is well organised event and a great route.0

i have to agree iv been only riding 7 weeks myself and i found it a great ride..
there was a few sections of road full of mud and some full of smeared dung but it is the country after all
loved the way the miles were counted down to the finish certainly allowed me to get geared up for the finish and motivate me along.
only thing i can say i didnt like was that for the last 25 miles there were no water stops.. really needed water at 45 miles and had to dig deep to finish without
cant wait to do another event like thisSpecialized S Works SL2 . Campagnolo Record 11spd. rolling on Campag Zonda wheels

Couple of points spring to mind after riding this yesterday. Firstly the start was a bit of a minefield - turning left out of the gate into a traffic jam of people trying to get into the car park. Had to ride on the wrong side of road and duck into line to get out of the way of oncoming cars - would it not be possible to reverse the gates so that the first gate led into the car park and the second was the start/finish? This was the first time I've ridden this for about five years and I don't remember the parking being such an issue - I presume that numbers are much higher now?
Secondly could someone come round to my house and clean my bike please?0 -
just got mine out to clean it and the Puncture fairy has been !!!!!!
how can i complete 100k with no issues put it in my hall and 12 hours later it has a flat ????Specialized S Works SL2 . Campagnolo Record 11spd. rolling on Campag Zonda wheels

I did the 100k too, with a couple of friends.
Very happy to finish it in 3h 38mins on a steel framed 25 year old Raleigh.
Felt sorry for the people doing it on MTBs, especially one bloke we passed doing it on full suspension and knobbly tyres.0 -
100 mile in 5:29, not my fastest, but it was cold, wet and muddy and my legs decided not to work properly for about 10 miles in the middle and I had to slow down until they woke up again...
The roads were slippery and I had a few 'moments' but did not see any fallers luckily. Did get more than the usual number of people hanging on and not coming through to share any load until I almost completely sat up and asked!
It was also a bit slow at the end due to the shear volume ... what I did see for the first time was LOADS of really young riders. Spotted some jersey with Mossley CRT???. That was really good to see, young kids doing 100k ... good on yer!

Why expect this? Just ride your own ride and forget what or who is behind you.
Personally on a sportive ride, I 'll take the front, aint bothered.. unless I am riding with people I know who know when and HOW to come through.
It's all about your own pacing anyways.0 -
Why shouldn't I expect it...if I go past people and they jump on my wheel after a while it would be nice if they took the lead especially when they are so tight that I feel a responsibility to point out potholes and gravel. It's what I would do...this wasn't a sportive it was a fun ride...0
