I'm loving doing my smaller routes of around 12, but starting to feel the need to stretch my legs a bit more.

Of course what I didn't realise was that I could just string a couple of the rides together - they all start and end at the same place anyway!

Well and truly itching to get rolling again. I bought a tonne of stuff at Lidl in their bike sale that I haven't had chance to use yet :(
Hills are like half life - they wait until you're 50% recovered from one before hitting you in the face with the next.

had another great ride again today but fark me, it was windy. took on some bigger hills today and a bit more millage, Mrs p struggled a bit with the wind as she weighs bugger all, she wasn't too pleased about having to pedal down hill. anyway, here's the data.

i know it's as flat as a witch's tit and the average aint that high, but I'm happy with it, and a bit knackered too.

not to bad for a fatty (103kg) I've been off the bike for the last 5 or 6 years after a change of jobs and a snapped Achilles tendon having previously been into mountain biking. i never thought I'd enjoy road cycling as much as i am, i bought a nice orbea onix 6 months ago.

    anyway, that is all.

Good effort, My bum would take it!

That looks a good route. I may borrow some of it for my rides - how is the traffic up by penwortham on the a59

the road from the m65 to Walton Le dale is very wide and not overly busy, the w shape under Preston is right by the river and is almost devoid of traffic but at the end of the boulevard as you see the sports field you need to take the cycle route and keep the river on your left, there will be a lot of people walking, there's a little kick up at the end of that path, don't go over the bridge at that point.
the section after the w and along the a59 is quite busy but there's a lot of traffic light's so the car's speed is reasonably low, where the a59 opens up into a dual carriageway proper there's quite a good cycle path right up to the Hutton roundabout, the rest of the ride after Hutton will be very quiet.
