What was your price break down?
Don't tell me Lidl are adjusting prices locally even for their special offer items?

Just went for a quick cycle with the new kit. Zip broke on the right overshoe. Not their fault, just I'm a size 12 and they were a VERY tight fit. Jersey was good, but the body is a little too long and it's pretty cold (my chest was blue at the end). Bib longs are good. They're really comfy and they have furry stuff inside to keep your legs lovely and warm Hat thing that came with overshoes is excellent at reducing wind noise, but I had to take it off because I overheated.
I pushed myself to the ragged edge and took 3 minutes off my usual time for my 9-mile route!

popped into my local but not a great deal left. Some long finger gloves a couple of tights, a few pairs of glasses but loads of track pumps and lights.
Has anyone tried the lights? was wondering if the front light was any good.0 -

My dad got the lights. The back one is excellent, but the front beam is quite focussed. It's probably good for visibility though.

Was interested in the soft shell jacket but luckily someone had decided to open one up, looked very thick, more like a quilt! Anyway decided the cut, shape was not going to suit me so left it. However grabbed the flou bib which will be perfect and also grabbed a couple of light cycling jackets that were reduced to £7.99 and fold into their own bag. Will do me and my eldest son for cycling to school etc. Gloves looked a bit meh but then again I have Altura gloves for winter. On the whole not really much tbh worth having unless you have nowt to begin with, I will make do with what I already have!0

Me too. Decided to take the 5 mile round trip to the next-nearest store. Jersey was comfortable with reasonable wicking properties , at least on a short trip with a slight incline on the way back in the wind and rain. I had it tucked into my cycling trousers ( ) and an Altura rain jacket on top.
Bought a second jersey (blue this time), one of only 2 left in stock, and last in my size; the last pair of socks in my size, and the arm/leg warmers (yes, last in my size!) There was only one overshoe/skullcap combo left but it was a small and the overshoes wouldn't have fit so I gave it a miss.
Arm & Leg Warmers (S/M) - Arm warmers are 1cm shorter than my Cannondales (which have lasted me a good many years), which is no problem but they are also 1cm wider at the wrist so not quite as snug (though not flappy).
The leg warmers are similarly just that tiny bit wide at the ankle but otherwise the length and fit seems fine. Only a ride will tell for sure, however they shouldn't be in any danger of slipping down from under decent shorts You won't be pulling them on and off over shoes though as the zip extends only halfway up the calf. To be fair, I haven't tried other leg warmers so that may be par for the course. It would be preferable to be able to keep shoes on but perhaps the zip would need to be almost up to the thigh for that.
As for longevity (particularly of the leg warmers - stretching at the knee?), only time will tell.
All in all though, a good batch of products this time round.

Definitely. Comfortable enough but the "gel padding" was virtually non-existent. Perhaps ok for a trip to the end of the road for some, but not for me.MrGrumpy wrote:On the whole not really much tbh worth having unless you have nowt to begin with

Didnt really take notice of the gloves this time but bought some of the short finger while waiting for an order to arrive. Lasted a few weeks at best, whatever padding they had is no more, stitching is frayed and not exactly a snug fit anymore.
Lidl have some decent kit but I wouldn't say gloves were one of them.0 -
Got the bib longs, softshell and fluorescent vest. The bibs are a bit baggy around the belly (i'm quite skinny though!) The jacket is huge, why they don't do a small mens is a mystery to me, the length is perfect at 6 foot but unbelievably baggy everywhere.0
-
I went back and got some bib tights and the arm and leg warmers. There wasn't a lot left  but got the last of the correct size that there was. The gloves were not that comfy, so didn't bother. The bibs fit really nice and they are quite warm! At least the sizing is consistent.
So that's me sorted with some gear to get me going and prepare for winter, I'll give as much of it a test ride as soon as I can.
I noted that the jerseys are thin, so I will probably be wearing a T vest underneath them, at least while it's this chilly.0 -

Hi teddy
Here's my breakdown
Cycling jacket. £7.99
Cycling jersey. £7.99
Arm& leg warmers. £ 9.99
Please note the cycling jacket is light fold in a bag one,not the fleece lined one.0 -
i went about 5.30pm, all the lined jackets and jerseys were gone, i got the leg and arm warmers, i took them out the bag but never removed the plastic tag, the arm at the top is way to big round my arm, must think cyclists have big arm muscles lol. Will lidl take them back ok, never bought anything like this from them ie sized clothing.
i got the over shoe and hat set, im not sure what the hat is for when most of the time ill be wearing a helmet, i take it the overshoes only keep your feet a bit warmer but not actually keep your feet dry from the rain??
i got 2 sets of led lights, seem very bright, ill give them a go if they are not that great out riding the kids can use them, great value for money though.
i also got a strap on head lamp and floor pump, for the money its well worth a punt.0 -
Bought some winter gloves, cycle jersey and some sock's..
Good quality stuff IMO0 -

You can wear the hat underneath your helmet. It protects your fragile head from the rain and cold, and if you put it over your ears it reduces the wind noise but you can still hear traffic really well!
The overshoes protect your feet/shoes from cold and water.

Should be ok if my branch is anything to go buy. Although I've not returned clothing, they seem to be quibble-free about returns. Besides, they're not of as "intimate" a nature as shorts. Just make sure you take your receipt to make the process easier.mystic.bertie wrote:im not sure what the hat is for when most of the time ill be wearing a helmet, i take it the overshoes only keep your feet a bit warmer but not actually keep your feet dry from the rain??
Although I didn't remove one from the packet, I assumed it to be a skull cap - you would wear it under your helmet in wintery weather.
Unless made of plain lycra, overshoes should keep your shoes and feet warm and dry to varying degrees.
Edit: beaten to it! :P

thanks for the replies guys.
Ill try the overshoes out on the next rainy day, today would have been a good day to try them out as i got totally soaked commuting. Needless to say my shoes got soaked on the way to work so its not very nice putting wet shoes back on for the road home.
ok i was not sure if the hat was suitable for under the helmet thats good to know, that will come in handy when it starts getting colder.
Ill go down tomorrow and change the leg and arm warmers then, i just hope they still have the next size down but stocks were low when i was in.0 -

LOL that was probably me I bought one at 9 am this morning and returned it about 1:30 this afternoon. Too thick and very long in the arm for me Glenrothes Lidl?
I will keep looking for a cheap pocket sized stowaway rain jacket.0 -

You probably won't find a Lidl where somebody hasn't opened something to look at it! In fact the jersey I bought on my second trip was lying out of its packet but it was clean and undamaged so all good.
I have £80 bib shorts (and that's considered mid-price) and my jerseys include one issued to Will Frischkorn while with Garmin but there's definitely a place for Lidl's gear, clothing in particular. The materials tend not to be so technical but as long as you have your wits about you and don't expect to do more than the items are intended for, you can pick up some capable bargains.

It just goes to show how much profit some manufacturers and shops are making. A cycling jersey from Lidl £7.99, a cycling jersey from Rapha £140. The sad thing is the Rapha jersey won't make me cycle any further or faster."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

ended up wit a long sleeve jersey and the trousers, although XL trousers are too big on the waist, although the jersey is great! Padding on the trousers I doubt will last well to the point I may wear my shorts underneath too!0
-
well the light rain jacket is not very waterproof at all but then again it was like standing in a power shower with the rain today!0
-
Went for a 12-mile ride, with the overshoes and long sleeved jersey (over a compression running top). Starting raining so much on the way back I had to stop to clean my glasses so I could actually see. Even though the zip on the overshoes has broken due to them being too small they kept my feet nice and dry. Jersey is really good for the money too.

bit of a thread revival but ended up buying some of the lights.
Gave them a test run tonight, went out around 7:30 for a couple of hours and started using them around 8ish as the cars had already started using sidelights. on the low setting it seemed good visibility for other cars and even though it wasn't dark i could see the beam pattern on the road in front of me. Rear light although only one led and no flashing function did its job.
As it got darker I switched to the brighter setting and on the back lanes I could see far enough in front clearly for potholes etc coming up at my speeds.
Only gripe I have is nearly running into 6 bunnies and a kitten that all seemed to have a deathwish running towards the light but at least it kept the bugs off my face.0 -
I bought the floor pump, and despite it having a gauge up to 140psi, it can't push more than about 80. Well, at least, I cannot push more than 80 using it anyway. I guess, what do you want for for £6.Trek Madone 3.1 Carbon 2012 Road
