  • End of Watch.

8/10. Great cop / buddy flick. Sad ending, but you could figure out what was coming 20mins into the film.

As i said before Hunger Games is ok nothing more,a much better movie on the same kind of storylines is the awesome Battle Royale, which blows HG out of the water.

    I guess it's all relative.

Yeah,HG being the poorer relative of the two.

Ok - I admit it - I loved Bond films when I was a kid. Then the Roger Moore films ruined the franchise, and it's been a long road back since then.

Casino Royale was a good reboot, but QoS a poor relation. Skyfalls, in short, kicks ass big-style. For me, it at long last eclipses Goldfinger as the best Bond film made, and an excellent film in its own right. The baddie, Bond, Bond's relationship with M, and the last 20 minutes or so are perfectly executed. Where the franchise goes from here is intriguing, but the field is wide open.

Despite the nature of the film, one suspension of disbelief beyond the ordinary is required: surviving the fall. If you've been paying attention to the trailers, you've probably already clocked that. But it's a suspension you find yourself happy to give.

A 10/10 film. There will be better films in future, but that's no reason to withhold a 10.

Also agreed; explosive quality of granite lodges and 50-year-old cars notwithstanding.

    No, no, no, no, no!!

Awful film, lacked all of the charm of the original series. All they seemed to do was talk about their plan, rather than actually doing things - as though the audience needed hand-holding through the simple plot.

    I give it a generous 4/10.

    Cockney's vs Zombies,

Usual chemical leak Zombie film but with cockneys saving their Grandad's care home, Along the lines of Shaun of the Dead. More Comedy than Horror.

very watchable and contains Michelle Ryan.

+1 for Skyfall. Saw it in IMAX on Saturday. Oh it's good. Exceeded my expectations and there are some wonderful references to Bond of the past. Mendes has set things up beautifully for the next instalment, but left big shoes to fill. may go and see it again.

Edit- Bond has finally got his sense of humour back as well.

Saw Skyfall on Sunday (along with Paranormal Activity 4, but the less said about that, the better!)... I have to say that I thought it was a good action film... but that's as far as I'd go. Sorry.

Casino Royale was the 'reboot' of the Bond franchise, for me, and was excellent as it brought Bond up to date and more away from the silly-one-liner style to a more gritty action style - probably 'forced' onto it by the advent of the Bourne films and their popularity - which was (again, IMO) much needed.

Quantum of Silliness was just that, so I was hoping that Skyfall would be more of a CR flavour, and was not disappointed in that respect. Great action and it looked absolutely superb.. but the plot left me a bit cold. Suspension of belief/logic was required too much for my liking to be able to accept it. Take, for example, the chasing of the baddie and upon catching him up he somehow manages to invoke devastation which would only have been useful at *that* exact time and at *that* exact place for it to have had any useful effect.... no, sorry, it didn't work for me.

As for the finale and its 'shock' reveal... well, it was both rather predictable (albeit from only a couple of minutes before) and a bit unfathomable as it appeared to screw with the whole Bond timeline, but that could have been down to my lack of knowledge of all things Bond.

I wouldn't go so far as to recommend that people avoid it, but then again I can't heap the kind of praise on it that many seem to be doing. Each to their own, I guess. :-)

Saw skyfall too. Won't tread too much on the other post toes.

Never been the biggest Bond fan. People seem to give it an extra 1-2 marks outa ten because it's Bond.

Found it a little too 'stiring' and not enough Bourne style action. I kinda want it either Arnie style ironic funny action or actual Bourne style.

Best bit by miles was Javier Bardman as the badie. I was beginning to get a little bored (also, far too little hot female action - that was often the part that would pull me through an otherwise terrible bond film in the past) and suddenly he turns up and is genuinely quite captivating.

Few guys in the office were moaning about plausibility of motive, but c'mon guys, it's a bloody Bond film. None of it is plausible.

    I give it 7/10.

Reasonably well shot, funny in bit. Action felt OK, but a little limp wristed compared to Bourne (and no-where near as intense), but the best action bad guy I've seen in a while.

There were no plot holes in Avengers Assemble. As comic films go it is one of the best. The only other 'best' is Sin City.

Post the plot holes, I'll attempt to fill the gaps.

Now if you want a film with plot holes, PROMETHEUS

    Jeez!

OK, great CGI. Decent concept. Now the issues:

    Spoilers abound:

    1. Why did the alien kill himself at the beginning of the movie buy drinking that black liquid. Was it to start life on Earth or some sort of diety sucide?

    2. Why did the android touch the goo and go "interesting" when he first visited the ship?

    3. How did the andoid know how to open doors, play holograms etc on the alien ship?

    4. What were the aliens running from?

    5. What was the black goo?

    6. Why did that one guy get possessed and become superstrong when the snake xenomorph entered him. - That's not what the Xenomorph does? Why were there snake xenomorphs?

    7. Why was everyone on the ship cool about that afterwards?

    8. Why did the aliens (Engineers) want to destroy humans if they are humans (probably further along the evolutionary line - Stargate) and created human life?

    9. Why use the Xenomorph to destroy life on Earth? It's not like they die out afterwards or are easy to kill themselves.

    10. Why was the facehugger xenomorph in this film a giant squid - I can accept that the xenomorph at the end was different as a result of the alien (Engineers) 'superior being' DNA - think Predalien - but a giant squid?

And strangely it was an OK film.
Just watched it this afternoon. Enjoyed it. You are supposed to ask Q8. I think the answer is in the film, though, that they wanted to 'start' earth again.
The only question I have, Q11, is why did Weyland's daughter have a medical machine which was programmed to do procedures on men ? Did she bring it for her dad ? She seemed a bit too self preservatist to have brought it for anyone but her self though. Maybe the captain got more than he expected when he went to her room :D

Took the day off to do things for moving house but got distracted by wine over lunch and the matinee showing if Skyfall.

Overall I was disappointed with the film and it probably gets a 6 out of 10. For me it was a return to the bad old days of corny gags and Bond having a softer human side. In the books he's a 24ct bastard.

I think that history shall show that QoS was highly underrated and this was passable.

What did impress me today was the Everyman Cinema. With no child in tow we booked a three seater sofa at the back of the seating area and tucked into a bottle of Merlot with chilli bites. First time I've been to this cinema since it was refurbed and I'll certainly be going again. This is the future of cinema going.

Saw Skyfall last night, think everybody has covered most of the angles on this.

Decent instalment of Bond but didn't quite enjoy it as much as Casino Royale.

My plot hole was around M's demise. Where did she pick up such a severe wound that she was brown bread 20 minutes later?

I think it was when she failed to kill the guy whilst hiding behind the post, they made out she was hit then as she was checking the blood before the tunnel bit.

Skyfall for me was just slightly too long. I think I may have reached the age where there needs to be a 90 minute cutoff. But it was good and I'd watch it again. Am I the only person to think that the baddy looked a lot like David Walliams doing one of the characters from that airport series ? Mind you, the latest batman - should have been longer ? I don't think so. First film I've actually wanted to get up and go for a walk and come back later. Painfully slow. I nearly fell asleep during one of the Harry Potters but I was at least prepared to stay in my seat.

Skyfall: Agree with the slight 'meh' concensus above. Bardem stole the show, both through his acting and the character's story. Craig did well, but the plot messed up his efforts at characterisation; Dench's performance was poor by her standards, particularly at the end. I found myself in the entirely unsatisfactory position of having sampathy for the baddie whilst being left cold by Bond, M, et al.

As a work of visual art, however, the film was marvelous - really beautifully shot.
  • Number one son and I went to see Skyfall last night. Absolutely top-drawer action and entertainment. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm giving it a 10/10, it's not quite up there with Leon as one of my favourite films, but it's certainly the best thing I've seen in the Cinema for ages.
