After about a year and 150000kms of training/racing/enjoyment, my BMC will be coming to its end, in it's current guise at least....I'm expecting the arrival of a new Scott CR1 SL frame in the next hour or two, and the BMC will be cannibalized to build up the Scott.

It done everything that was asked of it, just time for an upgrade!
  • Very cool! Would be interested in your choice of going to the Scott rather than another BMC? Additionally would like to hear about your first riding impressions once you get your Scott Cr1 Sl hooked up?

I've made a few changes also, Burned through a set and 1/2 of Hutch. Fusion 3's. Weak side walls, not the best for durability. So now I'm liking the red Michelins Lithion 2's Cheaper and a smoother ride, we'll see how they fair on the long end, but I hear they're durable. The red color sets off the bike and Nuvation R28sl's off well.

Been riding on the Michelins Lithion 2's for awhile now, no real problems except cracking in the sidewalls. I returned them to Performance Bikes for a replacement, then decided to try a set of Pro 3 Race's. Back to basic Black, honestly, the Red walled Lithion 2's overwhelmed be a bit anyways, with my full BMC Kit. I like the the basic black look. I put 35 mi. on them yesterday , they seemed to roll out nice.. Hope puncture durability is not a problem, the Lithion 2's had no issues except for the cracking at 500 mi.
  • :( Seems these Michelin Pro 2's really failed me today, or sometime after my 35mi shake down ride yesterday. when I gave my Street Racer the once over this afternoon and found the rear tire flat. Apparently a slow leak puncture! Returned them to Proformance Bike and stepped into a pair of 700-23 Folding Continental Gator Skins. What an amazing solid tire! I was a little concerned about the weight, but from what I'm hearing about these tires, flating is not an issue and I'll be carrying one less spare tube anyways... :D

Continental Gator Skins, I swear by them. Use them on everything (lone rides, club rides etc) apart from racing... They're superb.

Yes, I'm impressed by the construction. I'm not racing, just a serious BMC fan, lone and group rider. But I'm curious, aside from a little weight, and I did go for the folding versions, would one not desire the flat resistance of the Gator Skins in the competitive arena? What do you race on. I'm guessing there is a strong phycological factor to running ultra thin tires,etc.. .

    psychological ?
  • Hi folks. Just waiting on a used frame coming my way and want to get on with looking for bits prior to its arrival. What size seatpost does the 2012 SR01 take? Many thanks.
