I stand corrected........Gran Fondo model GF02 is a triple butted aluminium frame with carbon fiber fork.0 -
Nice looking brakes. I'm after some of the same. If you don't mind me asking: Where did you get them and for how much? How's their performance compared to what they replaced?0

Lovely looking bike. If you are still having trouble with your knee(s), it might be pedal/foot/cleat angles. e.g. my right foot naturally points outwards, left straight ahead = if the cleats are straight on my shoes, I strain my right knee. The solution is to sit on a kitchen work top, dangle your legs nice and relaxed and look at the position of your feet. Then adjust your cleats on your shoes so the cleats point forwards and the shoe is angled as the foot was when it was dangling. Apologies if you've tried this already!0

So my BMC has seen a few changes since buying it in March 2012, but here it is in it's current configuration, ready for the first race in about 4 hours time...

I've made a few changes also, Burned through a set and 1/2 of Hutch. Fusion 3's. Weak side walls, not the best for durability. So now I'm liking the red Michelins Lithion 2's Cheaper and a smoother ride, we'll see how they fair on the long end, but I hear they're durable. The red color sets off the bike and Nuvation R28sl's off well.0

I really like the new wheel addition. What are they exactly? How did your race go today? I don't see many Street Racers here is So Cal, Carbon rules the road and with competitive cyclist here. Are you unique in a aluminum frame in competition? How does it compare to the carbons you race against? I'm really liking mine, but I don't race.0

Wheels are PRO RC50 tubs, bought from Ollie cb on here.
Not sure who has carbon and who has aluminium frames to be honest, probably more carbon now that I think about it. Can't really afford to upgrade the frame to something I'd like at the minute so happy to race on aluminium. Can't see the frame making too much of a difference considering the level I'm at, plenty of room for improvement as far as my power/fitness goes before I need to worry about the finer details like frame weight etc...
First race as cat 3 yesterday, was tough enough, caught cat 4 and rode through them, few cat 1/2's bridged across to us, made the break and didn't feel out of my depth, unfortunately suffered a puncture 6km from the finish that ended my race, will be racing on clinchers til payday when I can afford new tubs...
New addition since, changed my KCNC SC wing stem for an FSA OS115 stem to match my k-force bars....0 -
helo all I have just my BMC SR01 105 last week. it is my first road bike and for upgrading the parts where should I start from? Many thanks.0

Wheels Wheels Wheels.. That was my first upgrade. I have a older 105 group with no real issues. If your stock wheels are nice spinners, I would with a carbon seat post. Great article on Aluminum bikes in the new April issue of Bicycling Magazine, page 38. "Call It a Comeback"0

The steerer looks like it could do with a good couple of inches off.Cervelo S5 Ultegra Di2.0
-
It definitely could, being my first road bike I have been holding off until I had the handlebars adjusted and at a comfortable level before cutting off any excess steerer, getting it chopped in the next week or so!0

He he ,another SR01 owner here- had it since november last year. It certainly is an exciting bike to ride. I'm about to upgrade my wheels having just shafted the spokes on the rear wheel with a chain drop from the large cassette sprocket. I'm having it trued but the Shimano 501s can become spares. I'm think Mavic Ksyrium equipes for a start.
Wheels always come at the top rank of upgrades to make a difference if you google about.0 -
Looks 80% better with those deep sections on.the deeper the section the deeper the pleasure.0
-
A great ride!! I've nothing but good things to say bout the Street Racer frame set. Would like to see a photo of your ride?0

I finally manned up and bought a double chainset for her...having been left wanting for a bigger gear than a 50-11 chasing a breakaway down a descent on Sunday I figured I may as well splash out and upgrade from my 50/34 105 to a 53/39 ultegra while I'm at it...it looks HUUUGE on the bike compared to the puny 50t!
Don't mind the dirt and lack of deep sections, I was just in from a test ride...and yeah I know, still need to get the steerer tube chopped!0 -
8) that is one really nice bike. I'm currently building up a bmc myself and cannot wait until its completed (however long that may be). Do you use the tubs for racing only and how do you find them overall? I'm considering a similar wheel upgrade.0

Yeah only use the tubs for racing, though I'm hoping to have a set of racing clinchers built up soon enough. To be honest, I don't FEEL much difference between them and my training wheels, but I've not really looked at the numbers to compare...I'm just assuming the are faster and using them to get my moneys worth out of them0 -
I always assumed that my bike was a heavy lump, maybe about 10kgs, thanks to its 60cm aluminium frame.
Well, curiosity finally got the better of me and I decided to weigh it. I didn't trust the first result, so I tried it again, and again. According to my digital scales, it's coming in at ~8.5kgs! Now I'm not massively worried about weight, but I was definitely a little surprised! It's another fear hundred grams lighter with my race wheels on too! I better start thinking up new excuses as to why I'm slow going uphill
Upgrades from standard configuration;
FSA K-Force Handlebars
KCNC SC-Wing stem
Fizik Arione CX Kium saddle
Ultegra 6700 chainset0 -
My 57mm is weighing out at 9 kgs, and I'm still running heavy ti SPD's mtb pedals and a heaver WTB five seat. I once weighed out a factory Carbon Roadracer at 7.75kgs. I couldn't justify the $3000 sale price for the carbon variant, when I paid $500 for the streetracer frameset and just transferred my 105 group over. Still loving this bike!0
