Wheels are on!! Will get pics in a bit.
Pretty impressed weight wise!
All weights are with tyres, skewers and disks - old tyres (70%+ worn splashbacks 1.8") box weight was 450g, new tyres (Conti MountainKing II 2.2") 620g.
Old front - 1771g
Old rear - 2403g
New front - 1729g
New rear - 2329g
Saved, 116g. But with bigger, heavier tyres. With the splashbacks on, I think I could add approx another 250g weight saving!
Should have really weighed without tyres but didn't think.. oh well!
Pleased0 -

Going to put the splashbacks back on tomorrow, got a fire road ride on Thursday and don't want to wear the new tyres lol! Will save them for best0 -

Not with those XT wheels, all you need is a valve and sealant. Mine from Merlin (previous model) came with the valve.
Let us know how you get on with them, I found them very flexy, twanging all over the place even on the routes I ride which have no steep drops and no rocks.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -
Shall do... I'm pretty heavy, and never had a light set of wheels so will be interesting to see how they do!
Don't expect them to be much different to the old wheels, but we shall see!!0 -
What about the forks? Glad you decided to keep this!0
-
Forks will hopefully be on tonight so I'll get another pic.
Doubt I'll cut the steerer tonight though, need to get outside for that lol!0 -

Lmao!!
Well, unfortunately I can't! Got half way through and realised I didn't have a star nut, so it will have to wait till the weekend! DOH!0 -
Good price for those wheels I take it the hubs are XT as well0
-
Done - almost.
Everything fitted, however annoyingly the crown race cracked on removing from the old forks. Had another crown race which I thought was from the same headset, but its not. Got one on order so hopefully it will be here by the weekend!

Is going to ride really nicely. I like how you have your seat set to "downhill". Old habits?
Have a great ride tomorrow!0 -
Old habits? current habits lol! I'm no xc whippet put it that way
Cheers fella, should be fun!0 -
Well.. it seems the new forks, wheels and tyres have paid off!!
Just put in a PR on the most techy climb and the fastest decent at Cwmcarn on the RL!

Any excuse for a pic... new seatpost, Easton EA70.
Altered my saddle angle slightly too and is much better for climbing now, Afan was a breeze this afternoon!
But, I bloody love this bike at the mo. It flies! Up, down, across.... its superb! I've had a lot of bikes, but nothing has impressed me as much as this!0 -
And people say 26er old skool Hts are dead! No chance.0

Looks fantastic0

My Team Tig is hanging in the garage now, they are a great looking frame, considering a budget build to have as a back up, still got the Magura Ronin forks, seatpost and Calipers, just need a group set and some wheels.
Not sure it will happen for a while, unless the new frame snaps and kills me.0 -
Properly blasting the km out on this now... Just done 32km Wentwood Enduro. Was a boring ride with a lot of road/fireroad, but a shed load of climbing - depending on which app, it was somewhere between 850 and 900m of climbing!
It was also very very muddy.
