Did you get it from a guy in Northamptonshire?
Was a great bike bike, I ran it with 115mm Reba SLs up front and a 90mm stem.
LOL!! small world eh!
Nah must have moved on again! Came from Sheffield!0 -

Cheers, picked up a normal Deore front mech for £15, the other can go in the spares bin or in the classified!0 -
In a previous life ;-)
And those wheels!0 -
Update:
Tyres arrived and fitted, personally I think they look spot on! They're Charge Splashbacks in 1.8 flava, should be perfect for the trails round here as it drains pretty well in the wet and these are supposed to be a dry - intermediate tyre.
Finally had a sit on the bike too! Sooooo glad its not the bigger frame, this feels spot on. Need to move some spacers obv lol.. but it feels great.
Oh and Supersonic - this wheels are superb!! (I know i've mentioned it loads, but I still can't believe the price!!).0 -
Agreed, tyres suit it. Looking good now!0
-
Know what you mean about the wheels (bought some too ) thought they had mistakenly put pair instead of front! . Love the tyres with the old skool skinwalls! I found an old Maxxis something in the old dears shed that came on my '96 MTrax it had skinwalls and i was caught in some "scooby doo" style reminiscing of some of my old rides LMAO! Good job with the Lobster.
Thanks.0 -
DISAAAASSTEERRRRR!!!!
Well not quite.
The 160mm front brake adapter doesn't work with the fork as its curved so it fouls on the IS mount bracket.
Grr!! was hoping to get it up and running tonight! LBS tomorrow I think!0 -
A file? take a bit of excess material off and voila? You might not have a file to hand of course! I know I don't. But B&Q is probably still open!Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

I think its a bit too big tbh, I did file a bit, but I'll be thinning it out an I don't want to weaken it!
I need a Shimano one, no nonsense mounting lol.0 -

Ha! I managed to get another Zaskar LE for commuting duties, so sadly the old girl had to go! Most the parts went on my Ruckus lol.0

Quick update..
Brakes, pedals and grips fitted.
Will need a trip to the LBS, brake cables are miles too long!!0 -
dont forget the obligatory pic of you holding the bike with one finger in utter amazement0
-
Hehe..
STILL waitin for the lbs to shortern the brake cables... Had it a week now, taking the piss!0 -
Looking too notch, will have to drag my arris out onto some trails with ya soon0
-
Yeah deffo!
Can't wait to get this sorted now. As much as I want to get out a bike, the effort needed to lug the Canyon around isn't fun when the weather is like this0 -
You still not ridden it yet? :shock:0
-
Nope! Not had chance! Bren away for 2 weeks, looks like its 1st ride will be a 50 mile charity ride!!0
-
I have a feeling you are going to love it!0

Bike back in my hands Should be finished tonight hopefully, think i have everything I need, just a case of putting the rear mech on and sorting the gears!
I'm really happy with the weight so far, just need to see if the saddle is ok for long distances and maybe change the stem for something longer/lighter.
Oh and gotta cut the steerer but thats not urgent lol.0 -
Yay!! Bike finished...
Well its rideable!! Still gotta decide on the stem height, but I have a new 80mm stem coming instead of the 65mm...
Saddle needs moving, but it feels really nice to be on... I thought the position was going to be really racey compared to other bikes I've had (I never owned a 100mm travel bike) but it seems pretty well balanced and like its going to be fun to ride!
The Shimano Deore 10sp stuff is just lovely and I've pumped the forks up, they seem nice, do what they need to do...
Retro looking, think it needs a brown saddle?

looks great. got any ideas on weights? its hardly an xc race bike but would be nice to know how much lighter it is than the Canyon. Ha yeah... when I say racey... I mean for me lol! It sits nicely into 'trail bike', can't wait to ride it properly!
Will use my very inaccurate scales to weigh tonight!0 -
1st ride done
Got my new Carbon Cycles 80mm stem today so fitted it in the carpark, so happy I got it as the position is much more suited now.
Very very pleased, rides brilliantly! Minor issue with the front mech, think its cable stretch so I'll sort that over the weekend.
It's so quick off the mark and rolls really fast, surprised myself a few times! Fork was great, felt a bit of flex, but travel wise I fell like I could have pushed it a bit harder.
Ended up being a night ride in the end... got to the last decent in pitch black, luckily remember all my bike lights so all was good!
Big grin0 -
How did the frame feel? I noticed that classic light steel 'twang', especially riding out of hollows.0
-
If I stand up and keep the speed up, it almost feels like it has a small amount of travel on the rear. Its really smooth and seems to float over bumps and holes. It's similar to what I remember from the P7 I used to own, but nicer (and not as heavy).
Sat down its a bit harsh on ye olde butt-ocks... but its a HT and I've become used to a 180mm cushion
Compared to the Boardman, its not as harsh riding on the rear and is easier to keep speed up on fast twisty routes.
I just need to get used to 100mm travel!
Oh and the Deore 10sp kit is a dream compared to the SRAM x9 10sp stuff...0 -
