    4.5km, 10 secs gap, 30 riders behind.

Putting them to major shame here.

His TTing prowess has really come through this year.

Was always alright but seems a cut above this year.

Just love that rider. Pure aggression, pure attacking ability, pure class, pure power. RABO must LOVE him too - only rider to perform from that team.

Lovely celebration. Always pointing to the Sky for his brother, killed in a quad bike accident.

I thought it had more to do with the hesitation in the bunch than any super time trialling prowess. Porte looked to be catching him fairly quickly until he was chased down by that other Rabo rider. Very smart ride by LLS though.

True in part, but he was third in the final TT in the Tour and he was bloody strong for the whole of that final week. Taking ridiculous fliers off the front of the peloton in bunch finishes.

LLS knows how to do this. He has done it lots of times. Ask the riders what they think of him - suuuuuuper strong. Him and Voigt earlier this year together in a breakaway towards the end was amazing to watch.

Latest example is his Tour win. See what Sagan said about him and Gilbert, two heavyweight and strong riders. Couldn't bring him back working together.

Huge group behind, multiple riders per team. Still couldn't touch him. Over 10km.

    San-Sebastián 2012 Results
1 SANCHEZ GIL, Luis Leon (RABOBANK) 5:55:34
    2 GERRANS, Simon (ORICA - GREENEDGE) + 0:07
    3 MEERSMAN, Gianni (LOTTO BELISOL)
    4 LE MEVEL, Christophe (GARMIN-SHARP)
    5 MOLLEMA, Bauke (RABOBANK)
    6 SANTAMBROGIO, Mauro (BMC RACING)
7 CHRISTENSEN, Mads (SAXO BANK-TINKOFF BANK)
    8 RODRIGUEZ OLIVER, Joaquin (KATUSHA)
    9 FLORENCIO CABRE, Xavier (KATUSHA)
10 ULISSI, Diego (LAMPRE - ISD)
11 ANTON HERNANDEZ, Igor (EUSKALTEL - EUSKADI)
    12 TALANSKY, Andrew (GARMIN-SHARP)
13 VAN AVERMAET, Greg (BMC RACING)
    14 ZUBELDIA AGIRRE, Haimar (RADIOSHACK-NISSAN)

    17 RATTO, Daniele (LIQUIGAS-CANNONDALE)

Anyone know Gerrans was riding. Imagine how terrible this race would have been had he popped out in the last 150m to take the win.

My memory may be playing tricks on me but as I recall it, none of the group would work with Sagan to chase LLS down. They were sure that if they worked with him he would win. Don't get me wrong, LLS is clearly strong, his time trial third and the stage he didn't win, the one where Wiggins led Cavendish out, showed that but I think today's victory (and that tour stage) came as much from his ability to read the race and to be decisive whilst others flounder, as it came from his strength. His team mate (Mollema?) chasing down the counter-attacks had a bit to do with it too.

From what I saw Astana were on the front a fair bit and then disappeared on the last climb. Not sure who they were working for though.

    No, that's not possible.

Great ride from LLS, he is such a classy rider.
