    Guys guys.

Don't need to call it the 'double sculls'.

    The 'double' shall suffice.

    If it's 2 sweep-oars in a boat, it's a "pair".

So Quad - 4 man scull.

    Four - Sweep-oar.

    or

    2x Double

    2 pair

    4x Quad

    4+ Coxed 4

    4- Coxless 4

    +1

    Usain Bolt

I can't think of anyone else who manages to dominate their sport by being far and away the best but retains such universal popularity.

  • Living close to the Road and TT routes, I did enjoy watching them whoosh past. even the womens race in the rain!
And did watch some of the veldrome and such.

But best was going to the Men's Mountain Bike Race. lots of facial hair on show I'm assuming for Wiggo (at least one rode the TDF so this is lycra rather than baggies MTBing)

The Hugh Porter & Chirs Boardman double act, an exasperated younger bloke constantly correcting his senior partner but doing it properly without needle or being sarcy about it. Porter's best bit was the men beating Oz on the track, when they won it with ease and then HP spotted the new WR. Superb commentary.

Honourable mention to the rowing commentator, who [acc to The Telegraph] had a volume button that started at 10 and only went higher. He was good.

And whoever it was at the BBC who sat in a meeting some months ago and said "yer know what? We've got 24 video feeds coming in from the OBS. Let's just bung em all out for the viewers to choose what they want to watch. And do em in HD. All 24."

    Top bloke, him.

What was the song (intro) played over the countdown to the closing ceremony?

    I don't know.

I do know however, that the tune they played at the beginning of the opening ceremony with the spark that flew across London was F*ck Buttons (without the asterix) - surf solar.

    [/useful post]

It was a remix of Baba O Riley - The Who

    ......it's been troubling me
