Well let me start off by saying thanks to all at Bike Radar for the cool BELL Lid I won a while back and the cyclists here who have given me lots of inspiration and motivation, it helps so much and I appreciate it. So where am I now? Well in February I started off in this sport as a complete boob! Sorry, Noob! Weighing in as the same as a small hippo or one of those stupid TV wrestlers, I was unfit at 297.4lbs! A blob if you will...
Although cycling to lose approximately 60-80lbs [at least] I went down to 275- then up, then down, then up, plateaued and then down again to 279lbs at the moment. Best of all, it's staying off. Those of you who know I suffer from a severe anxiety disorder, well this has improved dramatically through cycling as well as new techniques I am learning to help with this. Considering 8 - 9 months ago I only left my house once a week, now I am out almost every day, weather permitting. Cycling has also become a vicious bug that keeps biting me and getting me more and more crazy for bikes!
I ended up customising my Giant Rapid 4 at €659 to a bike now worth €1476 approx with new drop bars, pedals, wheels, tyres, tubes, drinks cages, gears, chainset, saddle etc. The bike is now 1Kg lighter then the original version! Finally as a photographer of 18 years, I changed my website at the start of this month to a Cycling and Healthy living website and have a diary of my Anxiety Disorder. After getting many private tweets from people who read my letter in Cycling Plus, turns out there are a lot of us cyclists and ordinary people who have this - which takes away quality of life, but people felt afraid to discuss it as its a social taboo having a mental health problem. So I put a no holds barred diary up including the embarrassing parts to help people and let them know they are not alone. Also advising what helps me.
So that's it for now. Again, I always appreciate the support and the love of cycling and maybe when I drop to 240lbs, I will consider competing! Not that I will do any good, turn 39 next week but worth a shot!

Thanks again everyone for believing in me.
PS: Isn't it amazing how a British win in the TdF and the Gold Medals now in the 2012 Olympic's is inspiring a new generation to get into cycling!
