I'm not defending my (our) riding standards when this incident occured, and will fully accept whatever the courts decide :|

I reported it, after see'ing the video footage, as I don't see why anyone should be allowed to behave in the manner they did. IMO.

We obviously need clearer laws on when it's ok to hit someone, dependant on how they were riding or driving then

Worst thing that happened to me whilst out was probably a couple of days ago on the ride home from work.

BMW went past a wee bit too close for comfort while I was descending a hill at about 30mph so I shouted "whoa bit close there mate"

Maniac behind the wheel then swung right in front of me & pratically mounted the pavement. Managed to avoid him by bunny hopping the kerb after hammering the brakes on - he missed me by about a foot.

Carried on riding along the pavement & there's a local church with a massive car park about 50 yards from where this kicked off so the f***wit mounted the pavement to have another pop at me with his car. Managed to swerve round against the car park fence.
Carried on riding down the pavement by this point I was bricking it & having to dodge round some OAP's waiting ona bus. Meantime this utter waste of oxygen is still ranting like a lunatic.
Thankfully there's a sidestreet off the main road I was riding on that's closed off from the main road & tehre's some back roads to my house I can take from there so made my escape up that way. Got in & had a complete outbreak of tourette's

Bloody terrifying to be honest that anyone is that mental as to try & run someone over not just once but 3 times in the space of 300 yards.

Reported it to Strathclyde's finest when I got home who have taken it seriously & sent a rather nice looking female copper to take my statement so it's not all bad in the end :)

Clearly your own fault, if some of the responses to my incident are anything to go by

Maybe we also need clearer laws and harsher penalties for dangerous/inconsiderate cycling too? As it stands you can pretty much do as you please on the public highway riding a bicycle, safe in the knowledge that unless you do something blindingly stupid there will be absolutely no penalty coming your way.

With harsher penalties (lets assume its along the lines of fixed penalty tickets) I would ask if you would still submit this video to the court, given that you/your friends would up for some form of fine too?

Wind your neck in princess. His incident is nothing like yours at all.

There's a reason that the majority of responses here (and on the YT page) are negative. You and your club demonstrated some woeful riding, the sort that gives us all a bad name.

Have been smacked on the elbow by the mirror of a RAV4

Cadence sensor decides to part ways with it's mount and shoots off up the road after hitting the wheel

    I returned home

I returned home extremely wet and cold

I realised I was in Northern Ireland

TheFD yours is bad enough but the poor guy who got whipped across the back that's full blown assault.

Have had to revise my route home now which now includes the delight of ahalf mile stretch down a dual carriageway where there's a motorway off ramp - wee bit too busy for my liking. Ultimately feels like I've let the c**t win.

A passenger in a van tried to push me off my bike as they passed, I wobbled but managed to keep upright.

With regards to the video of the guy getting pushed by the motorbiker, I would disagree with most comments here, no need to ride single file on a quiet rural road like that. The riders were going downhill so probably not slow, the bikers had the other side (which was empty of oncoming traffic) of the road to pass, plenty of room for them. The cyclists were endangering no one and not holding anyone up.

Have to admit I am quite shocked by the reactions of people on here. OK so they were riding across the road. However, it was a quiet rural road with great visibility and according to the notes under the clip they were not riding like this the whole time. It was just a little section where they stretched their legs. Why didn't the guy on the bike just blow his horn to tell them to get to one side? Who was he to take the law in to his own hands and attack them? Seriously - the alleged poor riding of the cyclists pales in to insignificance in comparison to the bad behaviour of the motorcyclists who could have really hurt someone.

Cyclists get such a bad press from daily mail readers and motoring enthusiasts that I think cyclists are a bit gun shy now. This seems to cause them to criticise one another before considering anything else.

Great news...... so what was his sentence? £20 fine and a naughty boy sticker that he has to wear this weekend (or some other meaningless punishment)?

essjaydee, ignore the hate. I agree with you and I'm glad he got done for assault.

If someone can direct me to where in the highway code it says that we cannot ride double file then I'll happily change my views... If the car overtakes safely it's less distance to overtake both riders than if they were in single file. I also understand that it is recommended that cyclists ride 1m away from the verge for safety.

I see some ridiculous behaviour by people on the road, seems to be worse recently unsure why. I've had people shout abuse through windows through the most rural villages where you would be hard pressed to drive more than 20mph, odd.

Anyone know what happened to the poor fellow who was shoved into the road by a motorbike club?

Case goes to court this Friday morning on a charge of assault, but he has already pleaded not guilty :|

A bit stupid riding like that on a road. Hardly being considerate? But motorbike man was off side on the approach to a not particularly open bend, so a very poor overtake. Careless or dangerous driving would have been very easy to prove. I'm not condoning his actions but you have to take some responsibility if you selfishly obstruct the road to maintain a peloton.

Worse experience for me was being first on scene after a road group had crashed. All were in shock, one was unconscious and one was fitting. Had my hands full for a good 10 minutes until more help arrived. The biggest problem I had was trying not to puke while giving the guy with head injuries first aid. Fortunately I had only recently refreshed my first aid as I was teaching motorbike plod at the time.
  • Worst) Doing a wheelie on a MTB whilst clipped in showing off to my son and going right back landing on my coxic bone with the bike stuck to my feet in mid air, also broke a bone in my hand.
Next Worst) Waiting by a duel cartridge way to cross clipped in on one foot on my new road bike and lost balance falling over, saw the funny side as several cars approached.

I'm beginning to despair about our society.

Took my wee fella out for a spin yesterday - he's 12, started racing this year & really keen to get out on his bike as much as poss, so I decided to get him out for a decent spin including some of teh wee back roads in Renfrewshire.

Anyway onto the main point of this particular tale of a***wipes inhabiting the areas I seem to be riding constantly.

Riding through Elderslie yesterday morning, probably about 9:10 this maniac appeared from nowhere and starts running along side my lad, calling him an f-ing pr1ck & various other salutations. Wee man sprinted like hell to get out of there so then the arse turned his attention to me & decided to have a pop at me too.
All to the delight of his crowd of drum & flute playing monkeys waiting at the garage 100 yards up the road.

Absolutely no need for it & no provocation on either me or my kids part but yet again some inbred cretin decides to have a pop purely because you're on a bike.

I got knocked off by a van in front of about 30 cars at one of the busiest roads in Glasgow and phoned the police to be told "theres nothing we can do pal" i sai if he swerved and hit another car would it be dangerous driving? Copper said and I quote "yes but your on a bike so don't hold your breath". 8 weeks have passed and I haven't heard anything.
  • Hit bump, hands came off bars, which then disappeared beneath me, hit road, very badly squashed banana- beyond repair, not quite so squashed head due to helmet, smashed up shoulder, repaired but not quite as good as new.
  • In 1999 went wide on a bend down a hill hit some gravel ,straight into a ditch and hit my leg on a reflective post. Was riding with my brother who could not stop laughing when i got out of the ditch muddy and wet.My leg hurt but didnt think id done any damage to it as i got home all right.
A week later it was still hurting and went to see my local gp who didnt do anything and sent me home. After a while the pain got worse and by now i was limping so went back to the gp who and gave me some antibiotics.
The next day my leg started to get inflamed and looked very red and there was a noticeable lump so straight to hospital.
After 2 days in hospital an xray ct scan and a minor operation to see what the problem was,i was told that they needed to open up my leg.
By this time i was in total panic, my family were trying to calm me down but i couldnt think straight. This next bit is what my wife told me because i was totally drugged up on morphine. When i woke up i kept touching my leg to see if it was still there ,which apparently made every one laugh.
Three weeks later i was discharged and had to see the consultant every three weeks.
When they did the operation luckily there was nothing sinister there only puss and blood, the only problem now was i had a bloody large seven inch scar.
The first time i saw the stitches it freaked me out, it looked like i had been attacked by a dog.
Puss was leaking though one of the stitches and made a small hole this lasted for months till it healed up,after a year i was finally discharged.
I only lost two months riding ,at the time i was told not to but who listens to doctors anyway.
After that year everything went back to normal.
Looking back now that few seconds of falling off cost me a whole year of pain and worry.
    Still could of being worse....

Why do you think it's dangerous driving? Its quite a lot short of the required test
