Foot pain

Last night, I suffered from pain in the outside of my right foot - not really noticeable until I dismounted at home and walked the bike through the house.

I don't suffer from hot spots - and last night was no different - and this is the first foot pain I recall suffering in a long while. I used to get the odd pain when I first started out cycling and my fit was all over and I couldn't afford carbon-soled shoes, but I have been riding with this fit (my Dolan) for 5 months and these shoes (Specialized Pro BG) for 2 years... with no problems.

Could anyone hazard a guess where the sudden foot pain re-appeared from last night?

Cleat loosened/shifted? Tightness elsewhere in leg/knee? Changed saddle height (slipped saddle post?) Wrong socks?

I think I am going to tighten my pedal springs and check the saddle height. Although, like you say, I guess it could be as simple as some tightness further up the leg finding its way down to my foot.
