Why has he kept that aweful yellow lid?

I'm almost inclined to say that it's better looking than the Ford Multipla of helmets:

    Almost...
TBH I think the Kask lids look better than anything else in the peloton, certainly better looking than the golfballs and point hats the other teams are forced to use for no advantage.

  • Is it just me or is he using the SRM with no computer? I cant seem to see it unless its integrated into the rather large looking stem?

Between the bars is nt it? - Probably what he's looking down at..?

  • I was looking on the picture where Wiggins is waving. Cant see it in front of the bars. On the TT picture it looks like its between the bars though. I might just be being blind and swayed by the fact that the aston martin bike has a power meter computer in the stem.

If you're just out for a wee spin to the cafe, as the telegraph captioned those pictures, would you bother with the SRM though?

  • Ah I missed that bit! That would explain it.

Though marginal gains and all that... ;)

Does the Olmypics have to honour some of the weird UCI rules of "what is a road bike"

possible these bikes may just be stuidly light as they don't have many things to bolt on the frame... as it's all frame it seems.

I did wonder if the saddle could possibly be more expensive than the top line Arione I'm lusting after for my new TT bike.

Still has to meet UCI rules and the quoted frame weight of "about 1kg" is fairly heavy by modern standards. I suspect that given the relatively flat course (sorry south-easterners but Box Hill isn't really anything!) the aero nature and stiffness of the bike have been where the development has been done.

Looks like the photo was taken in or near Eccleston. Warmest it ever gets to up there is about 8C anyway :)

Given the other time trial helmets around, they're both ridiculous and still better than anything else in the peloton.

It's painful to admit, but it's true. They were lucky though, it stopped raining for a few minutes while they got their photo's.
