A Great Day in British Cycling History...
I was there at the top of the Rue De Rivoli which must surely now be commemorated as Brits Corner. This was my 4th year there and wow what a difference as the whole are was packed to the rafters with British cycling fans. A big difference to the dozen or so and two flags last year.
Here's a couple of pics I managed to grab that I am pretty pleased with even if I say so myself. Anyone else there who has got a pic to show?

Well done that man, not just for a couple of quality photos but getting off his @rse and cheering them on!
What a day, it must have been great to be in an environ filled with cycling enthusiasts, rather than watching at home with just yourself and a cycling pal to enthuse together.
I still loved the occasion though.Tail end Charlie

I'm still a in a little bit of shock over the whole thing. A Brit in Yellow, about to wint the TdF leading out another Brit about to win his 23rd and 4th consecutive stage on the Champs who is also, by the way, the current World Champion.
I'm struggling to take it all in. Until I came to the IOM I knew what it was like to be a cycling freak in Brum whereby you had to ride out ridiculously early to beat traffic and would be abused by people still going home from the night before. Now cycling is the thing to do, a bike is hip to have. Maybe this success can be the catalyst to making the UK cycling friendly like the continent.0 -
Great photos. I've already stolen the Wiggo/Cav one and it sits proudly as my desktop backgroundSpecialized Venge S Works

Great pics. Loving that one of Wiggo and Cav - Maillot Jaune and Rainbow Jersey - just before another great victory!I\'m sure I had one of those here somewhere0

Just got back from Paris. That was without doubt one of the greatest days I have ever experienced. Along with thousands of others, sang the National Anthem with all our hearts at the final ceremony. Absolutely shattered but worth every single moment. God bless the Wiggo!Raymondo

Thanks for the comments on the pics. It was an amazing day. Blisteringly hot and a great atmosphere. The final two laps were just amazing and on the last lap to see Bradley charging past you leading the Sky Train.... Well words don't do it justice.
Pic to prove my point and to lay claim for future years that the top of the Rue De Rivoli is now "Brits Corner". If the Norwegians can have the underpass corner at the other end of the Rivoli then this other end should be ours
Note the Union Flags, the picture of the Queen and of course the tribute to Bradley with our sideburns bearing fansTrek Madone 5.9

Another Brit Fans picture. These Guys also hung a Club Jersey up from Kingston Wheelers so if anyone from the club knows them say chapeau from me for a great home made poster.

Ah, kids realising the realities of watching pro-cycling live.
A lot of time hanging around, guarding your spot on the pavement....
Funny how you always forget that bit.0 -
Another pic I took which I'm pleased with as it captures the Train in full flow.

Saw this on the news this morning and reckon it's only a matter of time before someone moans about him being irresponsible. Not only not wearing a helmet but also encouraging his lad not to wear one. The pro helmet lobby are going to be incensed!!0 -

Watching programmes this morning like "The Wright Stuff" on channel 5 makes you realise how ignorant most folk are about pro cycling and the fact that they had 2 "Comedian's" on a serious discussion programme taking the P*ss at every turn regarding wiggins, the tour etc made my blood boil. I was waiting on the usual "They are all doped up anyway"
PS. Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 NOW between 1-2pm discussing wiggins win and asking if its less "Skillfull" than say winning wimbledon or the world cup than winning the tour ????? F***ing Neanderthals that we have in this country :evil:0 -
Seeing as Brits can't win either Wimbledon or the (soccer) world cup, it's a pretty redundant question!0

You really shouldn't listen to Jeremy Vine, they have Radio 2 on in our warehouse and whenever I go out there I find myself getting angry after listening to that programme for just a few minutes. There is a reason why serious programmes employ experts to comment on the issues of the day, rather than getting the opinion of Mildred from Tunbridge Wells. If I want to know the opinion of the man on the street then i'd talk to myself in the mirror.
As for "The Wright Stuff"...."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -

The problem here, is that you're watching the wright stuff and listening to radio 2.0 -

A ridiculously contemptuous question. If they are more challenging in some way, so what? You need to first master those qualities in order to succeed. Instead of playing down Wiggins' achievement and undermining it with useless comparisons, they should be asking what football and tennis could learn from British cycling. That's too much to ask for crap radio shows designed to stimulate stupidity.
At least most of the media, no matter how indifferent they usually are, realise what a great achievement it is.0 -
