Had to take a business call. What happened to the break Millar was in that Sorensen was chasing and what did Saxo do that P&P couldn't understand?
Think that was VDV not Millar.

Sorensen was stuck about 40 seconds behind the break so Saxo started to chase. P+P kept going on about how Sorensen couldn't know because he was still chasing the break when the reality was that Saxo were bullying the break to let Sorensen catch up. Eventually the break let him join and Saxo called off the chase.

    Edit: Too slow again...

Greenedge said they're not going to chase today? Break may stay out?

Looking like the break will prevail then. No sign of Greenedge or Lotto pushing it in front of the peloton.

    Edit...well said Neil!

Why is the Eurosport site http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/cycling/l ... 91470.html so far behind the live action, in both the moving line and the written commentary?

    However it now says

Third withdrawal of the day: Australian Brett Lancaster (Orica-GreenEdge) has abandoned.
Two more withdrawals: Kenny van Hummel (Vacansoleil-DCM) and Giovanni Bernaudeau (Europcar).

Can't turn the sound up: am at work.

EBH must be so tired of riding on the front.

What's up with Jelle this Tour? Fail or does he have a reasonable excuse?

Winner on the Champ will be the last sprinter left in the race at this rate!
Can only be Cav, Greipel, Goss and Sagan left.

To be fair, you could have listed those 4 before the race started. I see EBH has the Lidl shorts on in the photo above!

Would Prefer Mr VanDV, but I ve no idea tbh.

Look like my PTP is destroyed! That's waht you get for concentrating on the one race only!

BW barely looks like he's trying at all here....

So where are all the "Sky are ruining this .... boring ....boring ...." whiners?

We need them now to exhort Lotto, Green Edge, LeekyGas to do turn on the front and produce a sprint finale

They must be all OD on performance enhancing/mind altering substances

Regarding the OP, BBC just reported peloton had to take evasive action to avoid an oil spill on the road.

Can't blame the riders for this one.

The organisers may say that they provide the canvas, and the riders do the painting, but today's canvas is a crumpled up crisp packet.

Fedrigo is probably favourite, but it would be good to see an early move from TommyV, or CVV for another Garmin stage win.

Dumoulin can sprint. Not watching live though so no idea who is looking strong.

Three rest days in a row!

Obviously you need flat/flattish stages, but two days like this in a row is a bit much! This tour has included some interesting climbs, that just seem to have been put in the wrong part of the stages.

Lovely. On Wednesday the peloton will have five days worth of very easy riding. So come the 'monster' stages they will be well and truly rested.

Looks like the quality of GT champions of being strong in the third week is going to be much less of an issue.

If no one wants to chase the break then there is not much the organisers can do...Usually this would be an HTC stage with a bunch sprint but OGE/L-B can't be bothered to chase anything down. Liquigas don't need to as Sagan A) has enough points over Goss and B) seems to be able to beat him anyway and Sky don't need to...No wonder there was so much competition to get in the break today!

I think the first half of this stage was pretty tough, judging by the speeds and how long it took to establish a break.

Very disappointed with Orica Green Edge and Goss in particular. Not sure what the point of them being in the race is if they're not going to bother with stages like today.

Surprised Lotto and Greenedge let this go. Wouldn't have happened in the HTC days.

Agreed, if they didn't have the legs to chase the breakaway you'd think they would at least have tried to get somebody in the break (maybe they did?)
