Nibali & Wiggins

"When we crossed the line, Bradley turned and looked at me," Nibali said. "If he wants to be a great champion, he needs to have a bit of respect for his adversaries. Sometimes turning around and looking into your face is an insult."

It looked to me as if Wiggo was looking at the timing screen.

Has Nibali let Wiggo get to him?

I thought this, or maybe mind games? Trying to turn the media against wiggins and sky? Subtle comparisons with Armstrong and 'the look'

Didn't look like much, body language was very relaxed. As I said on the other thread, just caught the nutters eye in the pub, done that before, never good.

Nibali is proving to be a whining little b*tch. He needs to focus on his own race and do something instead of moaning about others.

Ironic considering what Nibali was saying about Wiggins afew days about.... About not being concerned about him....

Ditto that, MR, do you think he's trying to wind him up, or is he just being an idiot?

Yeah losing respect rapidly for Nibali, OK it's just a bit of mind games but I thought he had more class than that.

Oh, balls. It's all part of sport. Nibali's a wind-up merchant and good on him for it.

  • Sounds to me like he's just trying to wind Wiggo up and see if he is a mentally fragile as some people are making out. I say good on him for trying to get something going.

I'd give him the look too, Nibali said the other day that he wasn't impressed with Wiggins! I'd be doing the chest thumping in his face if I was Wiggo. It spices it up a bit anyway.

I wonder if Frandy Schleck had made the same comments, if everybody be calling him a tactical mastermind :P

Nibali's p1ssed off because his mum's just put his rent up and told him he'll have to keep his room tidier in future.

Haha, cracking up - Love this whining story.

On another note, I swear to god Wiggo's press conferences get better by the day.

You could take it further and say that Nibali trying to descend like a nutter is disrespectful... it puts the others at risk; if he can't outclimb Wigs, nor outsmart SKY then he has to resort to risk-taking behaviour... Just a thought...!

So is Nibali insisting that all of his potential rivals must never look directly at him, and should avert their eyes at all times? That sounds entirely rational...

It must be disrepectful to look at people in Sicily I think , that and going too fast on a bike , it's just bad manners

I made the terrible error of making eye contact with a taxi driver this morning. He was moving left into the lane I was cycling in - directly parallel to him - and I wanted to check he had seen me. Got called a c*nt for my trouble. Some people are far too touchy about these things!

Didn't Wiggins say Nibs attack was "pointless" in his presser.

    It's just banter.

Are they putting in a little baby step next to the podium for Nibali when he comes in 4th?

So riding to your strengths is desperate? Wiggins did a pretty desperate TT on Monday then. Or is it only desperate if it doesn't work?

I think he means 'desperate' in the sense that it was too little, a weak attempt.

You want to play a team sport Rick. This stuff is really mild.

It's all in the game, yo.

No, I mean Wiggins called Nibali's attack 'desperate' rather than pointless.

I agree, it's mild and I want more of it.

When I coxed I used to turn my box up as loud as it went and abused the other boat racing us.

Meh - Nibs should have gone the whole hog - "riders who've never won a GT should be a little more respectful to those who have...."

Anyhoo, I'd be slow to hack off a Sicilian. Bradley will wake up some morning and find Paul Weller's decapitated head in his bed

Ha, Nibs it turning into a bit of a knob :D If I was wiggo I would now look straight at him on a daily basis at each finish.
As for Nibs attacking using his strenghts, if he thinks wiggo is crap why not attack on the climbs? Iknow why, becuase he is no better than Wiggo climbing ( well shall see later I guess).
I do think he takes too many risks for little gain downhill and hope he does not over cook one day but the odds are one day he will, its a very dodgey tactic and in fact is quite desperate.
