A question of taste

So, N+1 occurred yesterday.
Lovely bike, pristine condition, bit of a bargain I reckon, albeit with mostly stock parts.
55cm ctt Condor Tempo in aqua
Condor Silver brake levers
Condor Silver Supremacy Brakes
Sugino Uno Silver 170mm cranks with 48T
Sugino Uno Bottom Bracket
Izumi Silver Chain
19T fixed cnc Sprocket
Deda 215 Bars
Stem Deda logo
Condor Cork Tape
Fizik Aliante saddle
Silver Uno hubs with 32h Condor deep v black rim, butted stainless spokes
Vredestein Ricorso 700*23c
Silver SKS guards
As I bemoaned in the SCR thread, it only has a 19 tooth sprocket, meaning I spin out far too quickly. I've got a pair of handbuilt track wheels that I was running on the other bike, black 40mm Weinmann DP18 rims and no braking surface on the back. Would black rims work with silver guards or am I breaking rules? Is this an excuse to buy a new wheelset from someone else (yes, I could just change the sprocket, shhhh).
Also, bar tape. I know it's blue and the frame is blue, but it's not the same blue so probably needs changing. And I'll remove the rear brake but probably leave the lever on as I think one hood looks strange.

I must say the only thing that grated with me the first time you posted pictures was that the bar tape was the wrong blue. Black tape, black wheels and black guards. I prefer black guards because you lose them against the tyre, I've never seen silver tyres.
Apologies for my nit picking, still a very nice looking bike.0 -

Nitpick away though, that's what the thread is for0 -
you might wanna fit some pedals...

Actually, I have some A530 pedals on it but tempted to swap them for some spare A520's as I think they'd fit the bike a bit better :roll:0 -
that bar tape hurts my feelings
plus, doesn't bar tape have to match your saddle?!
come on dhope pull your self together man
she does look nice thoughKeeping it classy since '830 -
I would definitely change the tape, and I would also consider going for black guards unless you get some white tyres."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

Saddle will be changed to my Brooks B17.
Plus, I've only owned her for 16 hours! I'm seeking help on the bar tape issue. There's only so much one man can do, isn't admitting the faults my first step to redemption?0 -

Yes ,you need to change the bar tape to match or contrast with the frame, and while you are at it, your garage door is the wrong shade of blue and needs to match too.
Saddles and bar tape need to go together like shoes and handbag - at least that's what I've heard
Nice bike btw.Nobody told me we had a communication problem0 -

New tape to match new saddle.
Silver guards are okay.
A520s are much better than A530s on a road bike.
That's all. Nice!None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
Nice bike i'd not bother with black guards, if it's a commute bike it will be covered in grot soon enought!
The blue bar tape though, does jar somewhat. black or brown? to go with the saddle?0 -

Black lizard skin bar tape arrived and chain tool brought in to swap wheelsets.
Pinched the A520s and a Brooks Swallow from the Cooper Reims (which looks like it's heading for the classifieds ) but it's tan rather than black like the B17. Could stick with the Fizik that came on the bike...0 -
Tan tape until you swap then seat then. It's the rules, innit?
Should look nice on a steel bike into the bargain. :PNone of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

No no, I've swapped no saddles yet. Decisions to be made before swapping.
I am thinking I need new bars though as they're silver and that's not really on when the stem, headset and tape are black...0 -

I am going the opposite way. Started off all black up front but now got silver headset & stem with bars to come. Then I will have the same problem. White tape on silver bars? Not sure but I do have a white saddle creating the conundrum.None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
Hmm, I may have dibs on some American Classics. Decals off maybe so they're not too loud?
Edit: having thought about this, stickers on I think0 -

This is a thread entitled 'A question of taste' - that precludes any suggestion of retaining the stickers on American Classics wheels.Faster than a tent.......0 -

There's a small pic of the old one in my sig (fixed steel).
Edit, there's the gallery. Deep rims since, new tape coming and possibly new wheels.

+1 on the wheel decals.
Very nice otherwise. :PNone of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
Hmmm, so decals off completely or just cut down a bit...
Or just leave it and make sure I'm faster than anyone with quieter rims0 -
I personally would get rid of both the aero decals as that is what is making it look at bit to busy for meSorry its not me it's the bike ;o)
