Thanks, I agree. Just need to choose between Zipp, Fulcrum, Shimano or Enve wheels and then I will get some 50mm deep section rims.
It would be even better with a fit rider though LOL
Definitely ENVE wheels - they would look amazing.

Needs 50mm at least.
May I suggest Mavic Ultimates? IMO, as good as Lightweights, and a darn sight cheaper.

Zipp 303 all day long.0

Why Zipp 303 over Ultimates just out of interest?0 -
303 FC's dont fit the SL4 or they would have been on my list.0

Don't fit?
Apparently there's not much clearance.

Don't fit?
Yep:Zipp website wrote:Product note:
The wide profile of the 303 Firecrest is crucial to Zipp’s revolutionary Firecrest technology used to create wheels with superior aerodynamics as well as improved stability and handling.
The rear 303 Firecrest, however, may present some fitment issues for a small number of road and triathlon frames. The clearance between the chainstay and the rim may not be adequate to avoid contact between each other when ridden under load.
We urge customers who plan on riding the 303 Firecrest to test the wheel within the frame in which they intend to ride it, under normal riding and road conditions, before purchasing. Clearance within individual frames of the same size, from the same manufacturer, may vary. That is why it is imperative that you test the wheel in your frame, or in the frame that you are considering purchasing.
Customers who run into this fitment issue may select any other spoked wheel within the Zipp lineup as an alternative, including the 404 Firecrest with its narrower aero-width profile.
Below is a list of known frames that may present this issue. This list will be updated if this fitment issue is discovered elsewhere.

Don't normally like Spesh bikes but that look really well tbh.......well done (you lucky git!). Any of the Mavic exalith wheels would look sweet with that bike.0

Rick,
We have remarkably similar builds going on !
Just finishing my Sl4 S-Works with 9070. Couple of questions :
Did you fit the internal battery in the seat post or is it in the seat tube?
How tidy are the cables under the bottom bracket? Mine look a bit exposed and not that neat, I am worried about water/dirt getting in - not sure if I am missing a cover of some sort or whether is supposed to be like that.
Rgds0 -
The battery is in the seatpost packed in with foam. I am waiting for the correct gromits to arrive at specialized uk then I will fit it properly. All the cables are inside the tubes, nothing is on show? The Junction box should slide into the down tube.0
-
Thanks Rick.
Also waiting on gromits for the battery. Have left it in the seat tube with o rings pending seatpost fittings.
The junction box is in the downtube, it's just the bit under the bb looks a bit unfinished and could let water spray in.0 -
ah you mean the plastic bit where regular gear cable wires would run? I think Specialized might have done a plate now that covers it, I am not 100% sure on this but I am sure I have seen it somewhere.0
-
Cheers Rick,
That's the one ! Will look into it.

Sorry bit late back on to the zipp 303 not fitting, I just couldn't believe it as opqs team using them....
anyway, I just checked out my sl4 and I have an Enve 3.4 on the back which is 24mm wide rim and I think there is no more than 3mm max clearance either side.
made me paranoid about my wheels when i read but i know fc's are 28mm which is pretty fat
Nice bike btw, looks very classy with the 9070 di2, completely changes the look from the SRAM red you had on before.0 -

Funny I have been thinking I need a Venge to compliment the SL-4
First ride out on it last night since I fitted the Di2, I rode my local club 10. I love the Di2 shifting, much prefer it to the old red and the 52/36 front chainset combined with the 11-28 cassette is perfect.0 -
Currently trying my hardest to ride myself into fitness. For the last 12-18months I have been a right lazy fucker. Riding very little and avoiding everything I hated, climbing been one of them as I am a shit climber, slightly overweight and more of a flat, big ring grinder kind of person. For the last two days I have been grovelling, yesterday up gun hill and today up to the cat to flash:
I am now ruined but tomorrow I might force myself to do a little 40 mile flat ride in the afternoon. The aim is to drop 2 stone and then I might be a little better at climbing. After all hauling 13 stone up hill is a right bind!0 -
That bike looks so good. If you ever want to give it away
