Here are a few photos of my new Specialized S-Works SL4. It is almost built now, I just need to get comfortable with the bar and shifter position, stem height and length and then put some bar tape on the bars. Hopefully the weather will be ok tomorrow (asking a hell of a lot I know!) and I will be able to take it for a quick spin to sort out those bits then I will get some good pictures of it.

Spec was:

2012 S-Works SL4 frame and forks in race black,
S-Works layback post,
Fizik Arione K:Ium saddle,
Sram red 2009-2011 group set bar:
Sram red black BB30 50/34 chainset,
Sram red 2012 Yaw front mech,
PRO Vibe 7S 42cm Anotomic bars,
Felt 100mm -7deg stem (just fitted while I make a choice on stem),
Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels (shortly to be replaced with some Fulcrum racing zeros),
Gore low friction brake and gear cables.

Here are a few pictures up to now:

And lastly one of it almost finished, sorry its in the little ring at the front! Will correct this tomorrow:

First proper ride tomorrow. Initial feeling on it is that going up a size over my old Felt was definitely the correct decision. Also it feels very stiff, I think its going tone a beautiful friendship 8) . I just need to get fit enough and fast enough to justify such a steed.

Lovely frame! Would like to see it with some nice deep rimmed wheels!

Thanks. I agree on the wheels but they won't be coming just yet.

Looks great. Hope you enjoy the frame. I love mine, really over the moon with it and up there as a frame for sure.

Whilst I flit between deep and normal wheels I do often think Tarmac frames suit normal section wheels and yours is no exception. Nice work; enjoy. :D

Once you have ridden, let us know your opinion.

    Regards.

I know you need a bigger loop than normal for the sram red but that is huge!

    Nice bike though!

It has since been shortened
  • I think it looks really good without deep section wheels for once looks like a roubaix bike

Finally ordered some 2013 Fulcrum racing zero dark label wheels with the new Mega drive side and a pair of Pro .4 Clinchers, I cannot wait to arrive home from Sydney to fit them. The last few weeks have been very sad so I am really looking forward to a spin on the Tarmac.

I cant speak for the Fulcrum wheels, but i've been using the Michelin Pro 4's for the past 3 months. They are excellent tires, there not as light as competitors but they feel a lot better than my old Continental 4000S'.

I agree, do you want to pay for them

They are not that practical for around where I ride IMHO but I am looking at maybe some Zipps or ENVE's built onto CK R45's for the days I go out on flatter rides. As it is the Zeros are perfect for most of my riding.

I think the chain looks out of place in that colour, otherwise storming :)

Little update. The Sram Red has gone and is now been replaced with a Shimano Dura Ace 9070 groupset and a internal battery :D

    Next up some Zipps 8)

Bits will slowly be arriving over the next few weeks. I have been buying the bits from a few places as some places were a lot, lot cheaper than others. Still need to buy the mechs and the chainset but I have everything else on its way.

Setting off from Singapore tomorrow night and hopefully as soon as I get home I can crack on building it back up. I now have everything bar the chainset waiting for me on my arrival.

Got home today to this little lot:
    null-30.jpg
I needed one of these as well:
    null-32.jpg
All the cabling is fitted, was a bit of a pain getting the cables through the frame but I got there in the end with the help of some gear inner cable :) Done the firmware update on all the components and I am just waiting for the DA9000 chainset arriving tomorrow then I can fit a chain and set the mechs up correctly. Its been fun messing around with the Di2 settings for multi shift etc and the autotrim on the front mech is something I am looking forward to seeing in action.

Just need some Zipp 60's, Fulcrum H50's or DA 9000 C50's next.

Thanks, I agree. Just need to choose between Zipp, Fulcrum, Shimano or Enve wheels and then I will get some 50mm deep section rims.

It would be even better with a fit rider though LOL

    yeah 50mm would do it.
