Last TT in the dauphine Froome was a minute and a half back behind wiggins, can't see him taking the lead unless he attacks his team leader.

Wiggins not so much on the ropes, but not exactly able to jump with Cadel and caught back up over the top. Will be interesting in the bigger mountains of week 3.

Anyway a rest day coming up soon, so I'm sure UKPS (oops, I mean Sky) will keep on keeping on...(just a little humour).

Cadel stood up and attacked - Brad never stood up, just kept spinning from the saddle. I wonder if Brad thought he was in being danger of being dropped he would have stood up?

Froome doing another Vuelta and showing Wiggins how it's done ...

Sadly you know he'll be told to take a packet just beore the last TT ...

Wiggins only had to follow Evans' wheel. Froome's attack was a little jab at Evans who wasn't able to follow – helps sow the seeds of self-doubt. Get Evans stressed and he'll start to lose the race.

Wiggins on the ropes ???? FFs some folk are sounding as if they want Wiggins to fail !!! - We have waited nearly 30 years since Robert Millar to try and get a Brit on the podium. Can you imagine what a win would do for cycling in britain.....Bigger Picture guys C'mon.

Some inter-team polemica is the only thing that's going to make the next two weeks interesting as far as the GC goes.

USPS didn't even have domestiques pull hard for last 2km and then take the stage. Sky must have something really special.

They just transformed a rider who was apparently a sprinter into some one who won mountain stages and was touted as a GC contender. Besides I doubt the texan's ego would be able to take loosing a stage to a team mate.

    ??? Compared to who exactly?

Well done Froome. Wonder if Nibs is more impressed now?

    Compared to Froome and Evans!

He was glued to Evans wheel on a 20% climb, you know the sort everyone says Wiggo's crap at and on which Evans would have been favourite. I expected Evans to pull back a handful of seconds today so I'd say it was a very good stage for Wiggins. It was a good sign that Froome looked so good but I would expect riders sprinting up a 20% climb to look on the ropes. I'm not sure there are any other GC contenders who woildn't have swapped places with him!!

I wonder will they rip up the new road tomorrow now that the race is finished. I was half expecting a protest by the locals today!

I'd say Dan Martin is feeling a bit down in himself after that stage.

Many big names suffered today, the TT will again put time between the usual contenders and then it becomes a case of the rabbits trying to open up a few more seconds and the rest playing catch up. 3 key stages - yesterday with the accidents, today's killer climb and the TT, will really shake out the GC contenders.

In a situation like this, teams would be sending Froome up the road in the next mountain stages so that other teams will be forced to chase. I wonder if there will be any internal "politics"/"worries" about giving Froome such leeway> I suppose Porte would be another more diplomatic option,

How was Wiggins 'on the ropes'? He didn't even stand up, he looked fairly comfortable even though he doesn't like the steeper climbs.

Read previous posts... basically he looked under pressure in the face of an explosive burst... but he did manage to claw back, which is kudos to him. But I do think that is where he weakness is.

I'm watching down in Brazil where the commentary is 'painful' believe me. When Froome attacked it was " Wiggins, Wiggins. Wiggins!!' Only when he crossed the line did he switch to From (they pronounce every freak'in name wrong eg Can-sell-ara...) and didnt even apologise!

Unbelievable ride from Sky there. I actually thought Wiggins could lose ~30 seconds today because it's these short, incredibly steep climbs where he's more vulnerable. I had someone like Rolland or Sanchez putting their hands up as a podium contender.

It's worrying from Cadel's point of view in that this was the kind of stage where he had to pick up a few seconds off Wiggins. I can't see him dropping Brad on some of the big mountain stages because they are both very similar riders; they just set a high tempo and chug along. At the same time Wiggins is a better overall TT rider than Cadel so you have to ask yourself where Cadel is going to pick up the time on him. Still it's only 10 seconds with two weeks to go.

Good job Froome had that puncture

Verdugo and Farrar were the last finishers today, finishing together at 20.29. Van summeren finished at 17.49 just behind a group.
