Re; Pins and needles in the feet on and off the bike....
This last 6 months, I have noticed that I am getting really bad pins and needles in my feet. I feel it only started this year. It has however coincided with my worst year (2012) of form on a bike for fatigue and sore legs which I attribute to both standing up for a living and bike riding. But, I have just had 10 days off the bike with time away in Gran Canaria and I noticed over there, literally doing nothing sat by the pool, then getting it in my feet to the point I have been worrying and am now awaiting an appointment with my Doctor.
But, assuming it is bike related, does anyone have any pointers on what could be causing it ?
I have in my mind three things. Saddle, shoes and compression socks. I ride a romin 143, s-works shoes and use compression wear to recover. Would trying a new saddle be your first port of call once I have seen the doctor.
Just wondered if anyone had faced this phenomena ...? Nutrition, despite carrying a little timber is excellent again and managing it well along with recovery, just can work out where this is coming from.
Cheers.

Blimey there is some stuff listed on there. The only instant connection I can make is that I had shingles in March, but think the issue was there before hand. I had hereditary varicose veins stripped from the left leg when I was 31 and am 40 now so I would say that my circulation is not as good as it could be!
I realise no one here is a Doctor, but can only assume that my GP will hopefully question it, run some tests and try and help rather than not listen.0 -
experiencing fatigue, & sore legs. Had shingles in march. You are probably not well. See a doctor.
Hope you can make him/her understand the difference between you when you consider yourself healthy and how you feel now. This will sound worrying but it is unlikely a bike issue if it even affects you by the pool after 2 weeks rest.
It could be shingles still in the body (a virus that has been 'reawoken' ) or perhaps some other nerve thing. Either way I would not continue exercising more than nice walks.See a doctor and don't give up until you have proper diagnosis. good luck0 -
Have you had any noticeable fluctuations in weight over the last 9 months? It's very possible it's a circulation issue so make sure your shoes aren't too tight and a pair of compression socks would certainly help promote blood flow.English Cycles V3 | Cervelo P5 | Cervelo T4 | Trek Domane Koppenberg0

Did you see a doctor yet? I'd definitely make an appointment since it'd be good to catch any sort of cause that might turn chronic as early as possible. All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

Same problem 24 mths ago .seen the doctor who send me for a ct scan turns out to damage and calcium build up on vertebraes . Option surgery to file down calcium build up and also sort out damaged ones,or live with it till it gets unbearable . I,ve chose the later, but now laid up with a broken lower leg so it could a good time to get it done. In saying that my pins and needles comes and go.YOU MUST SEEK PRPER MEDICIAL ADVICE THOUGH WE AREN'T NO EXPERTS ON HERE.0

Cheers all.
An update on this to a point.
Have been seeing a pyhsio regards this and my upper and lower back whilst not feeling sore were in a state really so have been easing out the tension and feels much better now and the pins and needles has decreased. It seems we focus on the quads etc as bike riders but the back is important too. I was swimming most days and using breast stroke as the preffered method but been told to not do this as adding excess curve to the lower spine so swim with front crawl or some sort of belt to elevate the lower back. Evidently, I have an inclined spine which means it rolls in and out with it loading at the top of the spine not unlike your friend and mine Lance A.
Also, as an aside have recently switched to Vivobarefoot trainers for my day to day living/ stuff / gym work and actually had a massive impact on my posture and legs in so much that the difference is staggering. I feel so much better and my legs somewhat paradoxically feel so much stronger, fresher and ready to ride where as I was really struggling with fatigue despite bimbling about in a nice pair of daps.
So, at the moment, it bodes well and having completed 200 miles last week I have hit a nice purple patch in my riding just in time for the gulf stream to chip off back from whenst it came !
Thanks,
