Blimey, you don't mess about do you? That probably knock 1kg off the front end!
Rockrider, new or the '07? Either way - they are both standard Q/R so yeah you'd need a new front wheel"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Yep. Particularly as you don't know if you'll need one.
I'd calm down a bit, buy the bike, ride it and then work out where to spend your money.0 -
i was bored and it looked pretty
fsa os99 csi
now i just need to decide if i should bid on the rockrider 8.2 on ebay0 -
I bought pedals before I bought the DH bike
...but that because a lot of new bikes come without them. I'm pretty sure most new bikes come with stems though :?
I ended up buying a used bike that already had pedals. The pedals I bought were far better though and the other pedals on now on another bike...happy days"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

If you knew you wouldn't be insane, would you. Only properly insane people don't realise they're insane.I don't do smileys.

you have a point !!
hmm
I shall have to confer with the walrus in the corner !
anyway back onto the 8.2 on t'bay is it worth any more than 300 really ? ive seen other in stockport weirdly enough go for £250 quite possibly this same one !0 -
just seen the 8.2 for sale is actually a 2007 ! still worth looking at or go for a new 8.1 ?0
-
If you stopped buying shite you don't kneed you'd have a chance of affording a new one, with warranty, support and chain set that isn't half way through its lifespan.0
-
hmm grumpy man is very grumpy
im off to buy a new one decided it wasnt worth more than £270 as you say no warranty worn components etc hence why i was asking if it was worth it !
isnt it up to me what i spend my money on anyway? i earn it i can spend it on what i like non ? or do i need to ask you first.
the only reason i was considering used bikes was because i kept having people tell me that id get a better deal if i did go second hand.0 -
it will make you happy the stem is fake i think0
-
While I think you are insane, I certainly wouldn't want to see you dead or worse. There are known fakes out there, and I would think twice before using one. A snapped stem can hurt. A lot.I don't do smileys.

ive mailed fsa so will get evidence then report to ebay i certainly wont be using it !

cheers for all your help plan is to go to decathlon on saturday and purchase an 8.1 so im not that insane ! just a little cookoo0 -
I got my Carrera Fury off ebay last year, it was a month old and had the paper work and receipts with it, which i got pictures of. you can buy second hand (off ebay or anywhere else) you just have to be smart about it ask questions get detailed photos, even then cash on collection is best and be prepared to walk away if it doesn't feel/look right, you'll piss the seller off but who cares if it saves you making a several hundred pound mistake.0

You did ask for advice and got it! It may sound grumpy, but upgrading a bike that you've never ridden, particularly items like stems & forks and when you are on a budget is madness.
You may have got a better deal second hand, but the one you had spotted on ebay wasn't it.
Hope you enjoy your Rockrider. I've heard they're brilliant bikes for the money. You may want to look at the tyres soonish, but otherwise give it a proper go before you start picking up ebay forks etc!
Oh, and I do recommend that Kylie calender.0 -
My c,dale trail 3..lol
you wont be able to by a new bike better for less than around £800, better spec than sl 2 2012
