Riding with torn wrist ligaments

Hi all, I'm new on here and I'm looking for some advice.

I had a fall on the bike about 10 days ago, I took a bit of a battering but the only real problem I've ended up with is torn ligaments in my right wrist. I'm doing a coast to coast ride in July and can't afford to miss training for this so I only had 5 days off the bike and now I'm back on it and inevitably I'm feeling quite a bit of pain in the wrist whilst riding.

Has anyone else suffered a similar injury? Have you managed to ride through the pain, if so did you find there was anything that helped (wrist supports maybe)? I know the sensible thing to do is rest but I've been looking forward to my first challenge for almost a year, it will be a big personal milestone for me and not to mention I don't want to let down people sponsoring me so I have to complete the ride.

Sounds to me you have done a self diagnosis so why don't you google 'ligament repair' and see how dangerous it is to carry on using it unsupported or immobilised.

If you want to be a strong rider you have to do strong things.
However if you train like a cart horse you'll race like one.

No self diagnosis, I've been to a&e and had X-rays, I told doc about my cycling but never really got any advice from him and he didn't tell me to stay off. I'm aware it's not the best decision to continue cycling but I can't do a 140 mile cross country ride without the training, and as I said I don't want to miss the ride. I will go and get myself a wrist support today to see if that helps.

turbo + big fan + dvds

not pleasant, but it'll allow you to train hard without aggravating your injury and prolonging recovery

I done 40 miles with the wrist support on today, there was a few times it hurt over the bigger bumps in the road but overall it felt much better and my wrist didn't bother me at all on the good bits of road.

Thanks for the suggestion about the turbo it would be ideal but I don't have one and can't afford one at the moment.
