    Probably not.

Why are you obsessed with weight?

Your weight (or lack of) is not your limiter, lack of fitness is.

I'm 5"9 and weigh in at 68-70Kg's which changes through the year as I put on weight later on as I do triathlons as well as duathlons.

We have an age grouper in our local club who is the same height as me but approx +8 KGs more than me, to say the guy has a set of legs on him is an understatement. We also have a couple of ultra skinny guys around the same height.

Guess what I'm saying is there is no right or wrong, lighter is going to be more efficient however you need to consider your body type and what weight you can loose before losing any power &/or speed.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

I'm 67 kilos and 5ft10. Starting to look a bit emaciated to be honest. Not consciously trying to lose weight but can't seem to get enough food in me. Eating more then I've ever done but my weight is staying pretty constant. Flying up hills now though

Great graphs. Armstrong was a fat f**ker.
  • Yeah its really hard to keep on top of the food im concerened as I dropped nearly 80lbs pretty quickly and people keep telling me I look thin but I think it is just because it was such a drastic change in appearance in a short time. I lost the weight because I needed to.

If you dropped 80lbs quickly then you probably lost alot of muscle at the same time. Not great. Why did you need to lose so much weight so quickly?

OP, you have a great weight for cycling, I believe.

    Me is 5'9"- 64kg
Was always floating between 62 and 63..
This spring I spent a month in a gym and have hit 64 mark for the first time ever

  • I dropped it as I was told by my doctor to lose the weight as I was obese, It was over a space of 7 months

60lbs would be (on average) too much for 7 months nevermind 80.

I'm suggesting the weightloss was very rapid for little reason (unless the OP neglected to mention that he was morbidly obese and had 8 months to live which likely isn't the case)

    Pffft BMI? Please ..

What is your body fat percentage?

If you are a cyclist and are above 15% you are a fat fecker ..

I think roughly 5% is essential fat, 6-8% is pretty hard to achieve, 9-12% would be a good target.
All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

If that's right then you're in the enviable position of deciding if you want to retain that, and add lean mass to become a better sprinter or TT rider, or even drop some more and be awesome in the mountains! At that weight you're probably slightly lighter than most pros of that height, more like a climber at the moment.
