want revenge - inform social services about them - the shed bit should work a treat - at least they are far more likely to investigate than the police - and loosing their benefits would hurt a whole load more than paying £200 for scratches to be fixed

As far as the comment about me needing to chill out before a ride, if I get any more laid back I'll need to ride a recumbent

Kicking somebody so hard that they fall to ground and throw up doesn't sound very chilled out to me :? :?

What if he decides to claim some compensation and goes to the cops?? Sounds as if there were a lot of witnesses to you assaulting him. If it goes to court you might only get a small fine or 10 hours community service, BUT you'll end up with a criminal record (I assume that you haven't got one already). Regardless of what the record is for, trying to get a decent job with a criminal record is not that easy. Lots of other activities (scout leader, school helper etc) require a CRB check so it will show up on that as well.

Learn to walk away, scrotes like that are everywhere, (especially on the road) and they're just not worth it 8) 8)

If he and his family are that bigger scrotes I would bet the witnesses saw nothing.

If you report this to the police there are several outcomes..

IF he has never been in trouble before (unlikely from what you say) he could receive a conditional caution where he pays you back the damages over a period of time. Even if he not earning it can still be taken out of any benefits received. This would depend on him admitting it.

If he denies it, but you have your witnesses then he may be charged with it and go to court where the outcome would be some kind of compensation to you.

However.. You may be asked some tricky questions as to why you kicked someone so hard they fell to the floor and didn't move..

Reminds me of a raod race I did once near Carlisle, a road on the course had just been resurfaced via the "pour some tar down and chuck a load of gravel on top" method.

The bunch was riding rim deep in chippings and sticky tar, stones flying everywhere. 3 guys packed at the end of the first lap saying it was dangerous to their shiny bikes. The organisers response was "Well why buy a bike that's too nice to race on?"
"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

I though these high-end bikes were just mounted on a stand to be photographed and admired.. And to be 'pleasured' over! Never to see a road.

I did a TLI race like that. Or, I started a TLI race like that but it was cancelled after one of the riders had a terrible fall.

True - I've only done about 25000 scratch free miles since I started riding again 3 years or so ago so maybe I haven't had a chance to scratch mine yet. How long do you think it should take?......

The Genesis Core 30 is a mountain bike, if you go mountain biking your bike is very likely to get scratched. :D:D

That's a good point. And I did scratch my Orange on pretty much my first ride on it! Obviously OCD ensured it took me ages to touch up the scratch!
