Also moved the lever out of the way, so it's not sticking up from the handlebars0 -
I've got the same post but had a few problems. A bit play in it (could live with this) and know others with the same problem. Mines now stuck in the low position after fixing it a few times and the wire to pull it has frayed so looking to replace the cable but not sure if it was worth it! I hope yours goes ok though!!

Afan and Glyncorrwg are not far away by car. Just go up through the Measteg valleys and you drop down into the Afan valley. There's a couple of marked trails in the Garw valley (1 blue and 1 black). They're a bit short but fun. Garw valley is only bout 30-40 minutes ride from Bridgend if you follow the cycle routes.0 -

well after a few dry rides up the Garw and Afan the week before last, and a dry ride up the Quantocks last week while I was away. it was a soaking wet and very windy local outing for the Soul this morning. so decided to take shelter in a nearby pub (why not?)

Got a build coming up on one of these. Gone for XT/XTR/FOX/Hope components. I think it's gonna be sick. Really nice bike you have there as well, not keen on the forks but other than that it's really nice.0

Keep an eye on Merlin Cycles, they usually have unwanted OEM forks for a good price. Mate got some 2014 Fox on there for almost half price...0 -
Ok. So I'm thinking of changing the forks on the weekend. Will take the Vanilla's off my Merida until I can afford to buy a new pair. Opinions please?

Do it do it do it do it they must be lighter than what you have on at the mo as the stanchions are alloy for starters. I am assuming they are both coil springs?
You don't have anything to loose but a couple of hours of your time. Is the travel the same?

The Toras on the Soul at the moment are 100mm air, and the Van's on the Merida are 130mm coil0

Weight wise I think the vans are slightly lighter but not by much. The swap will be good to see if you want more travel when you finally decide to upgrade :P

Didn't weigh it, but could feel the difference just by lifting the different forks0

Didn't manage to get out last weekend so took a day off work yesterday and went up the forestry. I love it. Just seems as if it urges you to be more aggressive 0

Fitted a Blackspire Stinger guide this afternoon. Was a bitch of a job. The bolts holding the granny ring on where catching on the guide plate. So out came the file to make some sort of groove in the plate. Looks a bit of a mess when the crank is off, but it's done the job
Also the stickers on the fork were a bit of a state, so I replaced them with some orange Fox stickers for now
