Just been and picked her up at our friends parcel force after our friends the Tax man decided i needed to pay for the delight of her presence.
Two things, 1 she's not gloss she's mat, 2 She's BB30 not threaded .
Not a major issue but i wanted matching bikes and to use a normal BB, nevermind.
So here's some pictures
The Forks are scarily light, carbon steerer tube too
cant weigh the forks with my scales but the frame is 1250g which feels very light.
So onwards to the build!0 -
Could you not use a press fit adaptor for the BB?
Frame looks ace! Reminds me of the Whippet frame. Loving the forks too!
Im really looking forward to seeing this built up!0 -
-
Whats the size of your frame?0
-
its a 18".
but it looks long? Maybe i'm just not used to looking at HT's?0 -
looks like this will be purchased

Been having a little fettle, but without the brakes and BB converter i cant go any further, i tell you what, i'm gonna have trouble keeping the front end down
the Exotic bars and Superstar 70mm stem
Raceface seatpost
chain device (it will mainly be singlespeed)
Front end fitment
Rear end clearance (2.4 mountain kings)
the hips dont lie

How much did Customs sting you for?
Ordering one of the light-bike seatposts for £30 and 165g.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -
£18, £10 customs and £8 handling???
I may in the longterm get carbon bars and post, but no rush.0 -
Looking good mate, same one as I had originally... without the 'issues' my mate has one and really rates it, he also has the on-one 29er race, reckons there is very little difference between the 2, they both ride brilliantly, will you have it ready for MSG final round?0

Why do you not just buy a decent press fit BB??? Appreciate you want the same BB on each bike, but I would have thought (although never tried myself) by the time you fart about with adaptors etc, you have so many more parts and you effectvly have not replaced the press fit BB, you have just put a press fit adaptor in its place.
BTW, nice frame.0 -

So BB3o adapter turned up earlier, quick squizz of the instructions, and basically it was the same as fitting a headset 8)
Now the build can commence0 -

She's abare naked lady!0 -
Right so she's all together. Had to disconect the rear brake to thread through the internal routing, new olive and connector and bled. Nothing. so gotta try again to bleed again tomorrow night.
Single speed kit 16t rear 34t front, OMG not keeping that!
Time to buy a RH shifter and cables etc. :evil:0 -
So, Re-bled brakes, fitted all the 9sp gear and adjusted this and that.
Feels like a completely different bike now, just took her up and down the road, feels nimble and quick. Strangely easy to wheelie (i guess because the front end is so light and a short wheelbase. )
So the next few steps are to sort out a bit of weight loss on the equipment, the old Avids and pedals are going and the big 2.4 mountain kings will be coming off.
Best thing i have found out about the frame is the internal cable routing, my other bike has it but the brake lines are external. this is internal, also you dont need a full outer cable on the shifters, the outer cable starts and ends on the entry to the frame. 8) small things and all that0 -
looks cracking matey.
seeing this and Beyonce is making me want to build my own cheapo carbon bike.
i know its asking alot but could you either PM me or post up a quick round up of costs for building this bike.
i know you probably had some of the stuff already from previous builds but just so i can get rough idea of how much.2011 KHS Full Susser Carbon 29er Race BuildClank wrote:M'eh, I might just go back to zapping it with frikken lay-zur beeeems. And sharks.0 -
How does she ride?0
-
only take her around the block as of tonight, feels very fast and comfy, but tomorrow im taking her offroad for the first time, so will have to see if its true about carbon forks taking the buzz out?
Weighed her tonight, still with a 2.4 (for comfort) and a 2.2 on the rear and she's 10kg.
Once I start upgrading bits and the lighter wheels I recon 9 will be achievable?0 -
Just taken her out over the local trails, surprisingly comfortable and not at all as sketchy as i was expecting.
Which is nice.
Had a moment heading home where i hit a stump with a pedal, stopped me dead and heard an almighty crack. luckily it was just the chain device but it gave me a massive scare and some tree rash.0 -
looks super matey. can we have a spec list please?
with the internal gear cable routing, is there some sort of guide inside by the BB, or does it just pass straight through into chain stay?
if not surely everytime you change gear the cable will be effectivly sawing through the frame?2011 KHS Full Susser Carbon 29er Race BuildClank wrote:M'eh, I might just go back to zapping it with frikken lay-zur beeeems. And sharks.0 -
it does indeed have internal cable guides, pretty cool huh?
I'll sort out a spec list once she's finished finished0 -
oh and the cables do route all the way to the ends of the chain stays0
-
So first of the new bits arrived today.
New seat post clamp as the other one was crap
and changed the chain guide and too the bash ring off.
