Good to have you back. Here's a large mug of tea with some home made chocolate chip cookies. With extra chocolate.

Thanx. I've been away on another forum. Most likely getting banned or already banned. It was a Tai Chi forum and if you can believe it they didn't like my ideas either.

Ideas? Is that what you call it?

    You should subpeona a clue?

And if Race Radio is velonation's source...I'm not selling the family farm on that.

Which is fair enough. But if there is nothing going on why has there been no denial from the team? As I have said VeloNews, who are clearly trying to chase this story up, have reported that:
RadioShack manger Johan Bruyneel is at Hilton Sonoma but not speaking w/ press. Team media director Philip Maertens would not comment.
Also, Laura Weislo, ‏the US editor of Cyclingnews.com said the following:
Reporter to Bruyneel: is it true you were served a subpoena? JB eyeing suspiciously race badge: who the ** are you?
    Now this:
A spokesman for the RadioShack-Nissan cycling team said Sunday he couldn't confirm whether manager Johan Bruyneel was subpoenaed by federal agents upon arriving at San Francisco International Airport last week for the start of the Amgen Tour of California.

Philippe Martens, speaking just before the 116-mile Stage 1 start in downtown Santa Rosa, said Bruyneel didn't tell the team anything about talking to investigators as reported by VeloNation.com and Bicycling magazine.

Bruyneel wasn't with RadioShack riders as they departed from their team bus Sunday morning just before the start of the eight-day tour that ends next weekend in Los Angeles. He is expected to be with the team Monday for Stage 2 from San Francisco to Aptos.

It all looks like evasion to me.

I think that you've got a great start on a conspiracy theory, of sorts.
Besides, if he denies it then you will say it's true simply because he denied it. Right?

Birnie's take on his cafe stop thing:
I don't know who Shane's sources are, but my source on the matter (who knows what is going on and who I trust) said: "It happened just as Shane Stokes reported it."

    Right. I'm sold.

Conspiracy theory sweepstakes, pick your favourite and lets see if we have a winner ;-)

    1) The Armstrong investigation being called off was a bluff to lure the evil Bruyneel back to US jurisdiction and he fell for it!
    2) The Armstrong investigation did end, but it spawned a new case
    3) It's something to do with the Floyd Fairness Fund
    4) He's got a LOT of unpaid parking tickets
    5) They couldn't get Dominique Strauss-Kahn so they settled for the first foreign speaking Euro type they could find

Well, you know us Americans. There is no accounting for our tastes. Although when bad hair is talked about he's most often mentioned. Generally the comment is something to the effect of "If I ever have hair that looks like that, just shoot me".

A subpoena /səˈpiːnə/ is a writ by a government agency, most often a court, that has authority to compel testimony by a witness or production of evidence under a penalty for failure. There are two common types of subpoena:
subpoena ad testificandum orders a person to testify before the ordering authority or face punishment. The subpoena can also request the testimony to be given by phone or in person.
subpoena duces tecum orders a person or organization to bring physical evidence before the ordering authority or face punishment. This is often used for requests to mail copies of documents to requesting party or directly to court.

Yes, I have seen that quote before:
He is expected to be with the team Monday for Stage 2 from San Francisco to Aptos.
Thing is, word on the web is that no one has actually seen him yet!

I reckon it means he's currently being water boarded at Guantanamo bay while the Feds try and sweat the truth out of him.

Ha, they won't get a thing out of him. After all, torture doesn't work.

Johan does not have any sportive duties at the AToC. Alain Gallopin and Luuc Meersman are overseeing things. Johan is in CA for business, but originally planned to visit the Tour as well of course.

So, was or was he not "expected to be with the team Monday for Stage 2 from San Francisco to Aptos"?

Anyhow, if you are in the know, can you tell us why everyone has been so evasive about the subpoena?

Who served it and in connection with what?

I'm not in the know, and did not claim so. Just sharing what I do know.
Johan does not talk in public on anything related to doping and/or legal cases as long as I can remember. He never will. His evasive behaviour matches this completely. Confirming or denying, or talking about it at all, can only backfire at him, so he might as well say nothing. "Ignore it and it'll go away", that's his policy.

Maybe he was to join them at stage 2, I don't know. Can image the prospect of having to answer growing questions made him change plans. I know I would.

I guess that is one of the downsides of being involved in organised doping!
