Downloaded Doom the other day. Y'know, 1/3 of the game that then constituted the demo.

It was better when I was 7.

No one nowadays can quite comprehend the stunned amazement at being able to use a mouse to look around your environment and then move smoothly across the floor. It seems so commonplace now, but anyone who played that demo will know just what I am talking about

    *shrugs* I was 7.

I had a brief moment when our upstairs landing reminded me of the corridors in doom and I was worried/scared I'd get some pink weird thing biting me. Dad sat me down and said they were just 'fantasy creations of spotty teenagers'.

Was up playing it the next day :D.

I don't care what anyone says, there was no way to complete Doom. I entered the cheats and the last several levels were impossible.

    Same with Duke Nukem 3D.

Perhaps using a cheat to get to latter stages of the games means that you don't develop the skills necessary to complete the games.

Pong, there were no cheats. You just had to play the game. My Dad bought one. It was incredible. A game you could play on your telly, can you believe it? It's a GAME you play on your TELLY!!

    Was fun while it lasted.

Not going back particularly far back into my Yoof but I was in a (fairly trendy) pub last week and the DJ played On a Rope by Rocket From The Crypt, I nearly Jizzed.

Now I've got sprogs of my own it's funny that all the programmes I used to watch have been remade. The new Thundercats isn't up to much but the new Transformers is bangin' and loads better than the films.

Oh yes. I seem to remember looking this up on Youtube and thinking I should have stuck with the memories.

You probably just weren't any good!

Wolfenstein of course predated Doom. Slightly hard on the eyes though what with the miniscule palette! Who can forget the bright red brickwork?!

Sigh but this thread is about things you found.

I found copies 1st prints of Marvel's Secret Wars. Yes, the first issue Spider Woman (the second one) first appeared and the first appearance of Spider-man in the black costume

A few months ago I got back on the Transport Tycoon wagon.

My girlfriend was genuinely concerned for a bit.

First computer game I ever played. Played it A LOT.

Can get it on open source now: http://www.openttd.org/en/

Not the same music though

    World Cup stickers and coins.

I have two complete books of the 1970 world cup stickers in my loft. Must look that up on ebay to see how much it's worth.

Also got complete coinsets for various and numerous tournaments going form 1974 through to 1990.

Saw an advert on a history programme or summat last week for that game where you both had a fixed 'gun' at each end of a small table and shot ball bearings at a puck to try and push it into the other goal.

I can still feel the pain from the blister on my trigger finger from when I played it all afternoon with Roy Elliot round his house after primary school circa 1975.
