Pwertap and Garmin 500

I`m running a powertap hub with the standard yellow cervo unit.I upload all the data to the power agent and find this easy to read and understand.
I use an Iphone for strava but find the battery goes flat which is annoying.
I then thought about a Garmin edge 500 device as they work with Powertap and also Strava.
Will the garmin edge 500 upload ride data to the power agent or will I have to use something different.
I really would like to keep using Power agent because it has all my ride data from day 1 and shows how I have improved.

It looks like it should as you are able to import the data in fit format which is the format that your edge 500 will output in. I haven't tried it yet as PowerAgent is basic. By using PowerAgent you really are missing out on a lot of ways of analysing your data which will help you make the most of your power meter. No point going to the huge expense of power without trying to get the most out of it.
You can import your data from PowerAgent into all the major power analysis software options so you have nothing to lose from taking the step up and everything to gain in terms of leveraging the power of having all that data.0 -
Thanks very much for the help here.
I do send all my data to training peaks but only use the free one.
Please could you educate me in where to go from here then and what I will gain changing systems.
I know your reply may take some of your time but it will be greatly appreciated.0 -
I'd strongly suggest Googling Golden Cheetah, as its free and hugely powerful. It has its own Google group as well as the instructions for v3 are a little 'light' right now. Its possible to import all your old files into it and the analysis capability is superb. There is also a thread on here about it if you search back to last year IIRC.Your Past is Not Your Potential...0

TBH computers are not my strong point but I`m learning.
Golden cheetah has just scared me with tech.I`m running windows 7 and the yellow powertap cervo unit with usb cradle thing will I need to install the driver first?.0
