Merging Cake Stop and Commuting Chat?

There will be some changes to the road section at some point.
We're keen to make the changes all in one go.
It's not been decided what the changes will precisely be yet > hence the delay (and people have been / are away!)
I don't think commuter needs changing. Certainly not commuter chat.0 -

Only change I'd be up for would merging Commuting Chat and General, but I'm really not that bothered.0 -

Ah, being a relative newb to BR, you won't know that not so long ago, General and Chat were one and the same. In keeping with the religious theme of the moment, perhaps we should refer to it as the Great Schism.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

What actually happened was that the 'regulars' took a hissy fit and said 'stick your new forum we're not posting in there'. The result was an marked increase in the purchase of Hybrids by the 'lost ones' with no one to keep them right.

Really? Before my time, even better hissy fits than some of the recent ones? Is it worth having a hissy fit over t'interweb stuff?0 -

Buns is a guru.
Hello! (and thank-you :-) )
Sorry- work got very silly for a while and then I got distracted organising lots of sailing for kids...
Still riding, though- current job has added several miles to the "base commute" that I do to get to the station, so I'm doing 20-30 quite hilly miles several days a week. Not lost any weight but I think it's moved around a bit!! :-)
I swung by today 'cos I saw an article about the CTCs helmet briefings in Spokes Bulletin (Edinburgh cycle advocacy group newsletter) and wondered if it had provoked any discussion on here! Can't find anything, though, so I guess the discussion hasn't moved on at all.
What have I missed?
Cheers,

Hi Buns, you look different. Have you cut your hair?
RickChasey is now a mod and wears red trousers.
ITB now buys his bikes from Halfords.
DDD is a dad and doesn't respect anyone's opinion about kids if they don't have any.
The Gregs have morphed into one person.

Are people that make websites/the internets work able to determine how many posts are made on a forum each day?
The commuter forum seemed to be in its heyday a couple of years ago and I had trouble keeping up with topics as leaving the site for an hour or so then coming back would see hundreds of new posts being made. Now there seems to be much less turnover. Have we all just run out of stuff to say or are the user/posting figures down?http://www.ledomestiquetours.co.uk

Not that interested more of an observation.
For what its worth I find the current state of affairs more managable. Have always been an occassional poster so its easier to keep track of things nowadays!http://www.ledomestiquetours.co.uk

EKE you forgot to mention the great helmet debate in which we finally worked out for once and for all that wearing a helmet does make you invincible and you can't even stub your toe if you're wearing one.0

We need a new DDD. The first one has grown up and is frankly past his best.Rick Chasey wrote:mrc1 wrote:Are people that make websites/the internets work able to determine how many posts are made on a forum each day?

It feels like a bit of a purple patch over there, but that may be because I'm in on all the 'jokes' for a change.0 -

Since the de-merger with Commuting General, the turnover has decreased.FCN 2-4.

That's true, but I don't understand why. It's not as if the cadavers contributed that much.0 -

Is that like MySpace? I hear that's all the rage amongst the younger generation these days.
And less of your tales of "My Time Abroad In A Cellar In Belgium Or Austria (They Each Have Their Attractions) Codenamed The Dungeon" the better.0 -
How about merging Commuting General and The Workshop? Then we could have fascinating threads about panniers AND how to attach them. We could call it the "Helmet" section, or the "Tools" section.
No?
How about merging the road and mtb sections? We could call it the "Cross" section.
No?
I'm out of ideas.
Or do away with sections entirely? We could call it multisectionism.
Now I'm really out of ideas.
Look at the silly monkey.
