I think J-Rod might struggle a bit more without such an armchair ride from Shack and Omega trying to keep their guys up there gave him for all the build up to the steep part. I thought Poels early attack looked pretty good too, even if it was clearly too early.

So, Tony Martin is now the second greatest climber in the world?
    Purito unbeatable on 20%
    Henao looked good...............for a bit.
Poels looked in agony in the last 100 metres.
    Horner looked his age..............well, almost.

Samu v Der Diesel for the overall.
Half a dozen scrapping for the bottom podium step.

Oh and hats off to GreenEdge for a nice tactical attempt.
    Certainly livened proceedings up.

J-Rod wins today's stage ahead of Sanchez and Kieslovski. Most of the rest of the GC contenders 5 or 7 seconds down except Martin & Horner who were 23s down.

    Great last few KMs...

Sanchez has 55 seconds on Tony Martin going into the TT...interesting.

Sanchez should do this - a course with two sharpish climbs and descents just seems made for him.

I'm fairly new to watching pro cycling races apart from the TDF and chose Rodriguez as my PTP pick overall but I'm guessing from some of the posts I have read that he is not a good TT'er and doesn't really stand much of a chance of retaining his lead against Martin or Sanchez today?

Ah, i was torn between him and Tony.

Went for Tony as a PTP hedge.

I don't think that Martin has quite found his TT legs for 2012. By this time last year he already had a couple of high quality TT wins under his belt as well as 2 overalls.

And now I've said that he'll probably put a minute into Samu.

This TT looks pretty tough. Steep hills, narrow lanes, lots of turns, plenty of rain. Might be some unusual results.

Sanchez faster than the farmer but slower than Mollema at the half way point.

Extremely pleased for Samu and Euskaltel who are hopefully under a little less pressure as a result of this

I think it was sort of inevitable that Samu would win this race one day. Really pleased that he has done.

Everything is inevitable when you stop picking them for PTP.

So all the effort trying to keep Martin up there, and he could only manage 5th in the TT?

Good ride by Sergio Montoya for Sky. Can't TT, but remove that and he came 3rd.

Some big GT names in this race. Schleck older was riding...dont bother checking his placing or that of his brother's in Sarthe.

That was great by Impey. Riding off the front with 1km to go hardly ever happens.

Then the look on the face after he drops the champagne!
