    Have we not all overlooked the other bit of advice which is to change / upgrade your tyres (and tubes) and then your wheels. What about getting some new lighter weight / better rubber and see how you go or have you already sorted that side of things out ?

    Ahh. Yes. I have changed the tyres from the stock ones last week to the conti Gp 4000 they made an improvement to the rolling and to a lesser extent smoothed out the bits of road were the Tarmac is missing form the top. I'm sitting here having toast and tea after coming back from a 30 mile ride, I am somewhat surprised the difference those tyres have made.

    I have just discovered the the marvel that is Cycling Plus for iPad. You can download old issues of the magazine for a modest fee. The Jan issue has some reviews of budget wheels, so I shall be reading that over the next day or so to see what the craic is.
