"I spoke to Sir Chris Hoy and said, 'what can I do to help in any way?' And he said, 'I just want to look cool'."
Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist Sir Chris Hoy, who worked with the designers on the kit, said he was delighted with the outcome and suspected other nations would be envious of their look.
From what I've seen, the Olympians who weren't present and didn't have to be diplomatic feel the same way as most of us!
I hope he demonstrates better judgement in the sprint and kierin
I think it is a great tactic - all the athletes will be going as fast as possible hoping no-one sees them in the kit!
The one time we have the Olympics on British soil and we have some arty farty interpretation of the flag on our kit.
Where do these people get off ?
I suppose its better than something using the awful design restraints of the 2012 logo, but its still a let down.
Agree the colouring is wrong, especially in our very own Olympic year. However i'm no fan of the massively garish red, white and blue union jack taking up the whole kit either.
EG
Which is absolutely vile.
But there's no mistaking which nation it is though. Very visible in the peloton.
I so very badly want to mock the designs endlessly. However, I'm waiting until I see what my Irish kit will look like before I say how utter [email protected] the GB clothing is.

My wild guess is it will be almost solid green (with possibly a little shamrock on it somewhere)

As long as the designer isn't related to anyone in U2, you'll be OK.

Bonio is a mate of LA so might be into cycling - he could design it himself. Expect terrible eye wear and hats!

Just looks like a Scotland kit to me Stella get out in the sunshine!!
Sir Chris must be laughing his proverbial socks off. Stella asks what she can do to help and he somehow gets the design of the GB kit to look Scottish.
I don't get the lack of red at all but the T-shirt (Andy Murry) is nt so bad, the cycling kit does nt even look like it's got a flag on it! Ennis' trunks kind of make it work if you look at the whole thing/right at her censored
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

The panels on the top let of the cycling kit don't match up at all, making it look like a poor photoshop. There is too much navy on the cycling kit, the Xs on Phillips Idowu's Kit looks stupid. Finally, the tracksuit with the judo style belt is just weird!
I actually quite like it - apart from the Judo belt tracksuit thing which is horrid.
What I don't understand is the fascination with using these "celebrities" to do things that could have benefitted normal people. Ie why not use the public funding to give a boost to a collective of young designers to design the kits. It would have given work to youngsters in a tough industry, resulted in a much more "relevant" kit and help make the games feel like something the country as a whole will actually benefit from. As it is we end up with a kit that got designed by some celebrity idiot who is probably "good friends" with someone high up in the organising committee.
"Today is the first time we got the kit and it is fabulous in every single sport and we all love it," she told BBC Sport. "You can often blend in with French wearing red, white and blue but this is completely on its own and makes us feel very British."
I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

Ah well, he's only got to wear it a couple of times (and he gets his for free).
Job done

He'll be flying out the back of it on box hill anyway
It's already been said, if her dad wasn't a Beatle, she wouldn't be a so called designer....

I like the Worlds kit used in the worlds and the test event. It stands out and looks exactly what it should be. A GB kit.

Apart from the track suit/ judo thing.
The bike kit reminds me of US Postal though.
I think McCartney was trying to design something that could be worn with jeans....
That judo belt is mental though
