Sep Vanmarcke.
He's ridden a tactically interesting race today.0 -
Chavanel... oh dear.0

Incredible riding from Terpstra, though there wasn't a huge amount of initiative in the chasing group until it was all too late.'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0

Sounds like a good win, Terpstra is one of those riders who has been on the fringes of winning a race like this for a while, nice to see him step up, in style."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0

Good win from Terpstra; Chavanel covered everything that moved in his little group towards the end; he must be knackered.
VanMarcke looks like a kid who's been given a brand new toy and is itching to play with it at every opportunity.
Omega-Pharma-QuickStep are having a great early season, but it'll count for nothing in Belgium if they don't get either Flanders or Roubaix.kop van de wedstrijd0 -

Seem Cavendish had a pretty tumultuous DDF.
Crashed quite a lot.
Also noticed that Michel Wuyts (sporza commentator) picked Terpstra as the winner out at 65km to go.
"He always comes good at DDF - this is almost 'his' race"....0 -

Vanmarcke's tactics were somewhat off though, no? He was clearly very strong but the only chance he had of getting to the front of the race was to drag a group of strong riders clear and work together. Instead he set off on a futile solo mission which wasted energy and indicated to everyone else that he was very strong so when the three groups coalesced no-one was willing to collaborate with him.0

Think he knew the ghost was up at that point. Might as well do a 'tester' as the Flemish call it.
See what you can actually do on the hellingen.
It was a very very fast race - first hour average speed was 49.9km.
Garmin should have been represented in the break - especially when Terpstra & Chavanel bridged the gap to them.
Sep looks strong though.0 -

200km on Belgiums worst roads. All ok. 15km from finish, peloton's riding easy & a dickhead throws a bottle in my front wheel. Crashed hard.
Said it before: EVERYONE involved in a bike race should take a written & practical test to get licence. Bottle that crashed me was #Katusha.

Its true. There is a total lack of awareness from some riders who through bottles away not very well and so they actually land on the road, or worse, hit a wall and rebound hard into the other riders. I am surprised crashes don't happen more often.Contador is the Greatest0

Pinotti tweeted recently about the old pro trick of leaving an energy bar or something else heavy in your musette when you throw it away to ensure it doesn't blow back on the road.
In any case, why would you need to dump bottles from the laughing group at 15 km to go. Its not like they needed to lighten up for the gallop for 16th place.'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0
