Unmolested Star Wars IV, V & VI.
    Godfather.
    Bourne.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

+1 Forgot about that! And not a duff one in the three.

While I'm at it I'll add the Python films (Life of Brian/Holy Grail/Meaning of Life).

Quite a tough one to decide just 3 but I think it would have to be:

    Indiana Jones (original 3)
    Bourne
    Toy Story

Then closely followed by Lord of the Rings, Matrix and when the new MIB comes out that as well assuming they don't ruin it.

Guaranteed it will suck monkey balls, but then the second did anyway.

Too long a gap between sequels easily means an awful cash in. *cough* Indy 4, Blues Brothers 2000, Phantom Menace, T3, Godfather III, etc.

And will be the same with Ghostbusters 3 if it ever surfaces.

Highlander! There can be only 1, 3 and 4, but definately no 2.

Back to the Future's probably the best proper trilogy though IMO. It's all good and it all ties together. I remember as a kid seeing number 2 in the cinema, and it was followed straight after by the trailer for 3 which basically exploded my mind. Yee haw!

Indiana Jones and Star Wars were great trilogies. LOTR is wobbly as anything but gets plus marks just for scale and ridiculousness.

    interesting thread hmmm.

No 1 Star wars the original 3 all classics all genius

No 2 Hitch Hikers the trilogy in 5 parts

No 3 back to the future, comedy genius!

And no not LOTR, though i love the books i'm afraid they forgot there was a story in film 2 or 3 and the original publishing of the book wasn't meant to be a trilogy damn publishers.

2 was the first film I really hated and wanted to walk out of. Not sure why I stayed until the end. An abomination.

The rest may be okay, but refused to see any more after that and the above point remains true. The first film is finite, it ends, that's it, there's nothing more to be said without spoiling it.

What I mean is, the films are not a book. They're films. The book on the other hand, is a book.

Easy to get the 2 confused apparently, because they've got the same name.

I'm not a fan of the fantasy genre and I disliked the films. They where great in many ways, the scenery was amazing and the special effects where impressive. The story really let it down IMO, as soon as a battle commenced and the goodies started losing some other army they'd forgotten about would crop up and save the day. Maybe its better in the books, but I can't see what the hype is all about.

What's impressive about the books is the depth of the world Tolkein creates, including languages, songs, myths, fables (all included in various indices etc), history (told in Silmarillion), prequel (The Hobbitt).

Excellent for anoraks, pretty decent stories too. Much better than the movies - Elijah Wood was just an annoying tw4t.

The Girl with the.......................trilogy are pretty good films too.

The swedish ones are quality. I dont anticpate the American one and when they get round to the other 2 will beat the swedish originals.

The Star Wars (original films, IV V and VI) are timeless classics too.

Ok thats me thrown in my 2p worth.
